power must be first restored to transmission lines and substations in order to energize the distribution lines that bring power into neighborhoods, businesses and homes.

restoration work is well underway in jefferson davis parish after hurricane laura brought heavy rain and high winds that knocked down trees and utility poles — and in some cases, trees onto power lines.

so far, crews have identified 171 broken poles, 175 damaged pieces of equipment and over 389 spans of downed wire across the state as restoration continues.
