ice accumulation on trees and power lines from wednesday’s wave of winter weather continue causing significant power outages for customers across entergy mississippi’s service territory. our restoration efforts continue, as the demand for electricity is growing. we will restore service to our customers as safely and quickly as possible. however, restoration will take a few days.
as of 7:30 a.m., nearly 90,000 customers are without power. we currently have 49 substation circuit breakers out of service.
as of 8 p.m. nearly 58,000 customers are without power due to the ongoing ice storm. most outages are north of a line from natchez to brookhaven up to the jackson metro area and north of madison and canton toward kosciusko.
while restoration continues for customers affected by winter storms earlier this week, another winter weather front is expected to affect entergy mississippi’s service area today into the evening.
the winter weather continues to cause power outages for entergy mississippi customers across our service territory. as of 5:30 p.m., 3,341 customers are without power. we expect to restore power to the majority of customers throughout the state today, though outages for some customers in these hardest-hit areas may carry over until tomorrow. we are also monitoring a new winter weather system that will likely affect the central and northern portions of our service area beginning tomorrow afternoon and into thursday.
historic cold weather continues to impact the state and entergy mississippi needs your help. during extremely cold weather, the electric load increases significantly in comparison to “normal" cold weather conditions.
freezing rain, snow, and sleet arrived in the entergy mississippi service territory sunday and into monday morning. extremely cold temperatures have accompanied this storm and are expected to last for much of the week. as of 9 a.m., about 3,080 customers are without power and our crews are restoring power where it is safe to do so.
