halfway into the fourth day of restoration work, entergy has restored 172,000 of customers who lost power due to hurricane ida and progress continues.
thunderstorms rolled through the state on wednesday, causing additional widespread outages for customers in entergy mississippi’s service territory from holmes and attala counties down to the i-20 corridor. as of 7 a.m., about 19,500 customers are without power. approximately 12,000 of those outages are due to yesterday’s severe weather and the remaining 7,500 are associated with hurricane ida.
everyday functions for lineworkers – which includes men and women – include installing and maintaining electrical components such as poles, transformers and power lines.
