entergy’s louisiana storm team ready to restore power where needed

06/07/2020

as tropical storm cristobal bears down on louisiana and the gulf coast, entergy’s louisiana storm team of approximately 2,700 is ready to safely restore power where needed. we urge our customers to be storm ready as well.

southeast louisiana is expected to see the brunt of cristobal’s impact, with maximum winds of 45 mph and gusts as high as 65 mph. crews are already responding to outages as the storm’s outer bands began affecting portions of southeast louisiana sunday morning.

as entergy prepares for landfall, customers are encouraged to do the same, including staying tuned to local news outlets for the latest weather updates. also, the entergy storm center has information for customers on how to stay safe before, during and after the storm. customers are reminded to stay away from downed power lines, and to call 1-800-9outage to report it immediately.

crews will restore power following the storm, using high-water vehicles and drones to assist in the effort. after the weather clears, damage assessment teams will patrol lines and determine where damage has occurred. resources will then be concentrated on getting the greatest numbers of customers back on the fastest. although we are unable to utilize bucket trucks until winds are below 30 mph, work will be completed from the ground including closing circuit breakers and rerouting power, for example.

entergy also has plans in place for handling the restoration process along with the covid-19 pandemic. crews will adhere to all cdc and state guidance, including social distancing, and we ask that customers do the same by steering clear of crews and their work zones. customers can call 1-800-entergy at any time to report outages or other service issues. it is important to remember that due to the additional safety measures the companies must take because of the pandemic, restoration times may be extended, especially if there are widespread outages.

customers can keep informed throughout the entergy response through these resources:

  • download the entergy app at entergyapp.com. customers can use the app to report outages or check on the status of power at their home or business.
  • entergy’s view outages website includes maps that show where outages are located and give information about restoration progress.
