severe weather restoration update

01/12/2020

our restoration workers have made great progress restoring service to customers affected by the recent severe weather. significant damage in some areas will extend restoration for those customers. we have more than 3,000 restoration workers in the field. as restoration work winds down in one area, crews are reassigned to work in other areas as needed.

we have restored more than 100,000 customer outages after the severe weather caused a peak of nearly 134,000 outages saturday. at 2:30 p.m., a total of 34,700 customers were without power, including approximately:

  • arkansas – 11,400
  • louisiana – 2,660
  • mississippi – 19,600
  • texas – 100

we’ve reached a point that can be very frustrating for you. the storm has passed, yet power outages remain as we continue our restoration. we know you want to know when your power will be restored. we ask for your patience as we rebuild damaged infrastructure, including poles, wires, substations and major lines.

  • in texas, most customer outages have been restored. a small number of customers in harder hit areas will be restored by tonight.
  • in arkansas, damage assessment and restoration continue. most customers will be restored by monday night. restoration for harder hit areas will continue through the end of the week.
  • in louisiana, crews are expected to restore power to the vast majority of customers by tonight, with remaining customers in the hardest hit areas who can take service restored by monday.
  • the delta region of mississippi was especially hard hit, with significant damage occurring to our transmission system. most customer outages in the central and southwest areas of mississippi should be restored by monday. for customers in the hardest hit areas, restoration will extend into tuesday; however, this could change as the damage assessment continues.
