hurricane zeta restoration update – 11/5/20 @ 8 p.m.

11/05/2020

crews with entergy’s louisiana storm team are continuing to narrow in on the areas hardest hit by hurricane zeta and restore power as safely and quickly as possible.

with more than 95% of customers impacted by the storm restored, most of the remaining work includes repairing and rebuilding the electric system in hard-to-access locations like backyards and marshes of southeast louisiana. in those locations, crews are using specialized equipment like track machines, airboats, marsh buggies and cranes to perform work on the grid.

while customers in jefferson parish (with the exception of grand isle) should be restored by tonight, crews expect outages to extend into the week of nov. 8 for remaining customers in grand isle, golden meadow, venetian isles, braithwaite, pointe à la hache and south lafourche.

customer information centers are temporarily open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in golden meadow at town hall, 107 jervis drive and grand isle at grand isle multiplex, 3101 la-1. customers can meet face-to-face with entergy representatives to discuss their outage at those locations.

estimated times of power restoration are listed below and are also available by clicking the red banner at the top of our view outages website. if power is restored in your surrounding area and/or an outage at your location is not displayed on the map, contact us to report your outage. to report an outage, call 1-800-9outage (1-800-968-8243) or, if registered, text out to 36778.

customer information

customers with property damage may require special action to speed their restoration:

  • if your property has water damage, turn off the electricity at either the main fuse box or circuit breaker. don’t step in water to get to the fuse box or circuit breaker.
  • call a licensed electrician for advice when necessary. a licensed electrician’s inspection of your property’s electric wiring may be needed before entergy can restore power to a home or business that has water damage from rain or flooding.

customers who have a new advanced meter installed can check to see if their power is restored by logging into myentergy. view “my usage” on the dashboard. select “hourly view” to see their most recent usage which is updated every four to five hours.

for customers without property damage:

  • property owners without hurricane damage should be cautious.
  • look for electrical system damage once power is restored. if you see sparks, broken or frayed wires, or the smell of hot insulation is noticeable, turn off the electricity at either the main fuse box or circuit breaker.
  • call a licensed electrician for advice when necessary. don’t step in water to get to the fuse box or circuit breaker.

entergy cannot restore power to a location with a damaged meter base, conduit or weather head (the metal pipe extending upward from the structure with electrical cables inside). they must be repaired by a qualified electrician before entergy can restore power.
