october 13, 2020                       monday, 8 a.m. update

as of 8 a.m., entergy texas has 16,207 customers currently without power, which is down from 108,891 at the peak of the storm.  entergy texas has restored power to approximately 92,000 customers.  currently, entergy texas has nearly 2,200 workers currently engaged in the restoration effort.

based on our damage assessments (99% complete) and restoration efforts to date, entergy texas expects to restore the majority of its customers in the following areas:

  • port arthur by wednesday, october 14 by 10 p.m., with any remaining customers by thursday;
  • beaumont by wednesday, october 14 by 10 p.m., with any remaining customers by thursday;
  • orange by tuesday, october 13 by 12 p.m., with any remaining customers by wednesday.

port arthur network

as crews work, many of the repairs, particularly in the port arthur network require work at the back of customers’ properties or back alleys.  crews have to climb poles rather than use bucket trucks or bring in specialized equipment like rear-alley machines to repair damage in customers’ backyards, which can take longer to complete our work.

as of 8 a.m., there are 12,098 customers without power in the areas that include groves, nederland, port arthur, port neches, sabine pass & taylor landing. scouts have completed 95% of the total damage assessments for the area. scouting reports have identified significant damage associated with very high winds. these assessments have identified:

  • 120 downed poles
  • 26,500 feet of downed wire
  • 17 damaged transformers
  • 149 broken crossarms
  • 4 damaged circuit breakers and 4 damaged reclosers
  • 83 downed trees on lines

with the arrival of additional workers yesterday evening, there are now 979 workers in the port arthur network supporting the restoration effort. workers continue to restore power including the following locations:

  • groves – taft st area between hwy-73 and 32nd, pinetop rd and hwy-366 area, foster heights, indian springs and the area between hogaboom and monroe.
  • nederland – along twin city hwy between nederland ave & ave h and central gardens.
  • port arthur - griffing park, pear ridge, lakeview, roosevelt park area, pleasure island, el vista, lake arthur, between woodworth and 9th ave, area behind jefferson city center, west side, port acres & sabine pass.
  • port neches – the area between magnolia, port neches ave & 12th and hughann addition

areas that crews expect to restore today are:

  • port acres
  • port arthur – lake arthur dr., area behind jefferson city center, roosevelt park area, pleasure island, between woodworth and 9th ave, lakeview, between dryden and 25th, pear ridge and griffing park
  • groves - foster heights, indian springs, pinetop rd and hwy-366 area, taft st area between hwy-73 and 32nd
  • nederland – central gardens and area between nederland ave & canal
  • port neches - the area between magnolia, port neches ave & 12th
  • sabine pass

beaumont network

as of 8 a.m., there are 3,690 customers without power in the beaumont network. there are currently 400 workers in the area to assist with restoration.

damage assessments are 100% complete and crews have identified:

  • 135 poles down
  • 36 transformers blown
  • 72,000 feet of wire that need replacement.

workers continue making repairs in the following areas:

  • south beaumont – off washington blvd at waco st, off beale st, charlton-pollard neighborhood
  • central beaumont – downtown near the jefferson county courthouse
  • north beaumont – off e lucas dr, near french rd and concord rd, near pine st and lasalle st
  • west beaumont –near gladys ave/edson dr/n circuit dr area, near dowlen rd at westgate dr

power should be restored by the end of the day today:

  • near van buren ave at irving ave
  • near ellen ln at rose ln
  • glen oaks cir

orange network

as of 8 a.m., there are 330 customers without power across the orange, vidor, mauriceville and bridge city areas.  damage assessments are 100 percent complete.  orange has 147 total workers.

the following damage has been identified across the orange network:

  • 12 transformer damages discovered
  • 40 broken poles
  • 26,000 feet of wire down (104 spans)
  • 55 trees on lines
  • 16 cross-arms
  • 76 service secondary wires

all remaining customers will be restored by end of day today.  this will be the final report for the orange network.
