entergy mississippi continues to assess damage and restore power to customers impacted by high winds and lighting sunday night. damage assessment crews found more than 12 miles of downed wire and 47 damaged poles. more than 1,300 employees and contract partners are working long hours, restoring service to customers as safely and as quickly as possible.

as of 11:30 a.m. tuesday, fewer than 3,600 customers are without power, down from a peak of approximately 25,000 outages sunday night.

while most of the remaining impacted customers are expected to be back online tonight, some customers in hinds, rankin, and simpson counties are expected to be restored by wednesday evening, pending additional weather. customers should check the view outage map for an estimated restoration time for their area.

stormy weather also increases scam attempts. remember these tips:

  • entergy will never demand immediate payment from customers over the phone. customers should never share personal information with strangers.
  • if a call sounds suspicious, hang-up and call 1-800-entergy (800-368-3749) to speak directly with an entergy customer service representative.
  • if you believe you are a victim of a scam, notify the proper authorities, such as the local police or the state attorney general's office.
