jackson, miss. – overnight thunderstorms brought heavy rains, hail, lightning strikes, and strong winds of up to 100 mph into entergy mississippi’s service territory – causing fallen trees and limbs to damage our facilities and cause outages.

the areas of highest impact are rankin county and surrounding areas, jackson, clinton, brookhaven and madison. as of 7:30 p.m. friday, there are approximately 10,200 customers without power, and crews have restored power to more than 36,000 customers. customers in brookhaven, clinton, madison and vicksburg are expected to have their power restored by friday evening. most customers in jackson, simpson and rankin counties should have their power restored by saturday. however, due to the extent of the damage, some customers could carry over to sunday.

damage assessment is 77 percent complete and has identified damages to 88 poles, 32 transformers and 64 crossarms and found more than 11 miles of downed wire. as we continue to complete our damage assessments and repairs, restoration times will be updated.
