entergy louisiana storm update – 6/18/23, 8 p.m.

06/18/2023

entergy crews and contractors are continuing to make progress restoring power to customers across louisiana who were affected by back-to-back storms over the weekend and will continue working safely until all customers have been restored.

as of 7:30 p.m., approximately 9,100 customers remained without power, most located in the hard-hit areas of bienville, jackson, madison, morehouse, union, webster and winn parishes in north louisiana and east baton rouge parish in southeast louisiana.

power restoration following severe weather is a methodical process that involves damage assessment and the deployment of materials and personnel, among other actions. in both north louisiana and the baton rouge area, crews are being shifted around and are now narrowing in on the hardest hit areas.

some power outage cases are quicker than others. in the more challenging cases, for example, tree trimmers must come in and cut limbs away from electric equipment before line workers can come in and set new poles and install equipment. entergy understands how important power is to our communities and is continuing to take a strategic approach to getting the lights back on.

current estimated times of restoration by parish are listed below.

some customers may have damage to the electric equipment attached to their home (like the weatherhead) that will need to be repaired before entergy can reconnect their electric service. for more information on having power reconnected following a storm, please visit the what’s yours? what’s ours? page on our newsroom.

excessive heat remains a concern. customers are encouraged to stay hydrated, wear loose-fitted clothing and keep safety top of mind. for more hot weather safety tips, please visit our newsroom. also, customers are encouraged to keep their distance from utility crews and their worksites as well as any downed power lines and report them to the company at 1-800-entergy.

estimated times of restoration by parish:

*weather that occurred today has resulted in additional outages and delayed restoration work in some areas.

greater baton rouge

crews expect to restore power to the vast majority of customers who can safely accept electric service by midnight. restoration for an isolated group of customers in the hardest hit locations may extend into tomorrow.
