entergy arkansas storm update – 5/28/24, 8 p.m.
05/28/2024
just over 1,100 customers remain without power tonight after entergy arkansas crews restored power to thousands over the last several days. more than 46,000 customer interruptions have been restored since friday evening.
rocky terrain and hard-to-access areas have slowed restoration efforts somewhat. many customer interruptions are expected to be restored by 10 p.m.; however, remaining outages in flippin and summit may not be energized until wednesday, may 29. if you are still without power, please continue to check our view outage map for real time updates.
a total of 965 workers – including entergy arkansas vegetation crews, scouts, contractors, and mutual assistance resources from outside of the state – have been in the field working to restore power.
the most intense damages were the result of lightning, wind and confirmed tornadoes in rural areas that included treacherous terrain that required specialty equipment and additional personnel. aerial saws, track vehicles, bulldozers and bucket trucks have been used in several areas of the state, many of which are covered by debris and water. in addition to broken power poles and downed lines, substations and transmission structures were also damaged, many in hard-to-reach areas. for more information about how we restore power after a storm, visit here - //www.dcsportsinc.com/storm-center/restoration/.
as part of continued updates to the system, crews are rebuilding the system with thicker, stronger poles and in some cases, concrete poles, to improve system infrastructure and make it more resilient. this weekend’s storm comes on the heels of several storms that have impacted the entire entergy service territory this spring.

while crews work to restore power, entergy arkansas urges customers to keep safety first. as with any weather event, please be mindful of the following safety tips:
- live wires can be deadly. stay away from downed power lines. call 1-800-9outage or 1-800-968-8243 to report downed or dangling power lines, damaged or downed poles or other damaged equipment.
- do not trim trees or remove debris on or near downed power lines. only power company crews or their contractors should remove trees or limbs touching power lines. again, stay away from downed power lines.
- keep away from the immediate areas where crews are working. there is always the danger of moving equipment and the possibility of construction materials, limbs or overhead wires falling to the ground.
- if you plan on using a generator for temporary power, get a licensed electrician and disconnect from the utility electric system before hooking up to your main electric panel.
- do not run a generator in a confined space without adequate ventilation. use them only outdoors, following all manufacturers’ safety guidelines.
- turn off any electrical appliances that can easily be turned to the off position until power is restored.
