community engagement is key to the plant’s long-term success
st. francisville, la. – students from livonia high school jobs for america's graduates program joined entergy's river bend station team to learn about nuclear power and the different careers onsite.
during the students’ visit, river bend employees discussed their careers and how specific skills helped them become who they are today. speakers ranged from the site's operations, training, safety and maintenance departments, one being a local from pointe coupee parish.
"accountability and ownership are key in everything you do. you can do anything you set your mind to with those behaviors," said jason rivet, river bend station site mechanical maintenance superintendent and pointe coupee parish resident.
jobs for america's graduates-louisiana program is an affiliate of the national jobs for america's graduates program, the nation's largest dropout prevention and recovery program serving youth 12-21. jag-la provides an educational setting that promotes academic and skills attainment, civic responsibility, leadership development and social awareness necessary to become a responsible citizen and productive worker.
students ended the visit by visiting the plant's main control room simulator to see first-hand how the site produces clean, reliable and sustainable nuclear energy.
