new orleans – entergy’s louisiana utilities have their eyes on the gulf of mexico as they monitor a tropical system expected to impact much of the state as it swirls closer to the coast.
called potential tropical cyclone 3, the storm is currently forecast to be a tropical storm when it makes landfall along the western louisiana coast overnight wednesday or into early thursday.
whatever named status it achieves, entergy louisiana and entergy new orleans are preparing for the possibility of heavy rains and strong winds, which could lead to power outages in southern louisiana. entergy’s line crews and contractors are on notice and prepared to safely restore service to customers as quickly as possible.
“even though we’re only three weeks into the official 2017 hurricane season, we’re ready for any threat, because storm preparation is an ongoing process at entergy,” said dennis dawsey, vice president of customer service for louisiana. “we’ve got our plans in place and are ready to put them into action should we need to do so. being storm ready is the key to a safe and quick restoration.”
entergy urges customers to monitor the storm and to prepare to implement their own storm plans if needed.
“our operation: storm ready guide is a useful tool for customers who want to create their own plans and learn more about storm preparation,” dawsey said.
