entergy crews continue restoration work following lee

new orleans – entergy crews continued restoring power to customers affected by remnants of tropical storm lee as the storm system slowly moved north monday afternoon.
entergy linemen made progress restoring customers throughout the day monday only to see outages occur elsewhere as storm bands struck sections of mississippi and louisiana and reached into arkansas and texas.
as of 3 p.m. today, entergy crews were working to restore power to 8,164 customers. the affected customers included 2,646 in louisiana, 4,033 in mississippi, 241 in texas and 1,244 in arkansas.
although conditions were slowly improving in south louisiana today, periodic high winds, lightning and flooding from lee's remnants could still hamper restoration efforts throughout entergy's four-state service territory. crews are unable to work in bucket trucks when winds reach a sustained speed above 35 miles per hour.
the company reminds customers to stay away from downed power lines and to call 1-800-9outage toll-free to report electric or gas outages. customers can also visit the entergy storm center website at entergystormcenter.com for the latest updates and outage information.
entergy urges customers to monitor the storm and to prepare to implement their own storm plans if needed.
