icy conditions impede restoration progress
little rock, ark. – entergy arkansas, inc. crews spent the day monday scouting damage and making repairs following a destructive ice storm sunday night and monday that left more than 30,000 customers without power. outages were caused mostly by ice-covered trees and limbs falling onto power lines.
outages were scattered throughout south arkansas. montgomery county was hit especially hard. entergy arkansas brought in about 1,000 extra workers from sister companies and contractors, which were dispatched to problem areas monday. unfortunately, because of ice on the roads, travel has been tedious, and restoration slower than hoped. about a third of the customers who lost power will have their service restored by 10 p.m. tonight, most will be back on by 10 p.m. tuesday and a few of the more difficult cases will carry over into wednesday.
entergy arkansas provides electricity to approximately 700,000 customers in 63 counties. entergy arkansas is a subsidiary of 沙特vs墨西哥让球, an integrated energy company engaged primarily in electric power production and retail distribution operations. entergy owns and operates power plants with approximately 30,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity, including nearly 10,000 megawatts of nuclear power, making it one of the nation’s leading nuclear generators. entergy delivers electricity to 2.8 million utility customers in arkansas, louisiana, mississippi and texas. entergy has annual revenues of more than $12 billion and approximately 13,000 employees.
