motorists urged to drive cautiously in work areas
winnie, texas – the number of projects to clear vegetation away from power lines and help ensure reliable electric service in the winnie area is growing, with yet another added to the list. contract crews working for entergy texas, inc. have already either completed or are working on power lines served by the bayshore substation off highway 563.
now, however, they are scheduled to begin work the week of march 8 on an 85 mile-long power line that originates from the hankamer substation on the interstate 10 service road just west of indian trails subdivision. the power line serves 709 customers east and north of the substation along highway 61 and also east on fm 1663 and fm 1410.
the project is expected to take 10 weeks to complete, depending on the weather.
as always, customers are urged to be aware and take caution while driving because personnel will be working along and near roadways
“all of our power lines are on set schedules to remove vegetation that’s grown into or too close to the lines and also to check for any danger trees that could fall into the lines,” said ron fletcher, customer service representative. “right now, we are working hard in the winnie area, moving crews from one location to the next as jobs are completed.”
the latest job will require the use of a mechanical tree saw, aerial lift trucks and also manual work.
