safety. thanks to this new power solution, seniors can rest assured that their health and safety needs-such as keeping medications cool and maintaining essential power-will be supported, even in adverse weather.

“after the 2016 floods, the state of louisiana concluded that our senior citizens were the most vulnerable population impacted by disaster response, recovery, and housing challenges,” stated j. wesley daniels jr., ceo of partners southeast. “now, with entergy’s power through solution, our seniors at cypress pinchback will have the safety, comfort and security of uninterrupted power.”

“our goal is always to provide our customers with exceptional service, and the incorporation of entergy’s power through program at cypress pinchback helps us do just that, not only for residents at the facility but also for the broader community in east baton rouge parish,” said seth schilling, entergy louisiana region customer service manager. “we’re proud to have westwego to celebrate the start of phase one of the company’s comprehensive grid resilience plan in jefferson parish.

a ceremonial ribbon cutting was held near a seafood market off the westbank expressway, where work is underway to strengthen the electric grid. set against a backdrop of bucket trucks and lineworkers, the event marks the beginning of an era of more resilient infrastructure, enabling faster and more cost-effective recovery for communities vulnerable to major storms. this initiative will also support a more robust gulf coast economy.

“we’re excited to support a stronger, more resilient future for jefferson parish and a region that is critically important to our state’s economy,” said phillip may, entergy louisiana president and ceo. “we’re proud to serve southeast louisiana and look forward to completing projects that will speed up power restoration, allow us to continue enjoying life along the gulf coast and position our state to seize economic opportunities ahead.”

according to the lsu center for energy studies’ 2024 gulf coast energy outlook, the gulf coast has attracted over $262 billion in announced energy manufacturing investments since 2013, with louisiana capturing more than 50% of that share. additionally, louisiana 2022年世界杯比分 reports that business investment in the state reached historic levels last year, with companies announcing over $25 billion in new projects.

from seafood markets to schools and hospitals, companies and their workforces rely on dependable power to deliver goods and essential services. residents and families also depend on reliable power to achieve their goals and enjoy life within their communities.

alongside its energy sector and busy ports, southeast louisiana is renowned for its seafood industry, which contributes $2.4 billion annually to the state’s economy and supports thousands of jobs. jefferson parish, home to cities like westwego and jean lafitte, is particularly dependent on this industry.

over the next five years, entergy louisiana’s resilience plan will fortify electric infrastructure statewide, strengthening the power grid and safeguarding louisiana’s economy. the initial phase includes 2,100 projects targeting 69,000 distribution and transmission structures. upgrades may include replacing electric equipment, such as poles, guy wires, anchors, and power lines, to meet modern wind-loading standards.

in jefferson parish, the company plans to invest approximately $233 million over five years to strengthen nearly 200 miles of transmission and distribution lines, upgrading around 7,400 distribution poles to withstand winds of up to 140 mph. united utility services and ampirical solutions have been contracted to complete the work.

“we’re proud to join entergy today to celebrate a more resilient future for jefferson parish’s residents and businesses,” said jefferson parish president cynthia lee sheng. “we’re all too familiar with severe weather impacts, and this program to fortify our parish’s electric grid enhances our annual preparation and readiness.”

to develop its comprehensive grid weather, the resilience plan will help shorten evacuations and minimize time away from home and work, facilitating faster recovery for louisiana communities.

louisiana public service commissioner eric skrmetta, who representing the state of louisiana through district 1 and supported entergy louisiana’s resilience plan, attended the ceremony.

“it’s an honor to represent the 21 nov 2024 13:15:00 -0600entergy to strengthen electric grid in southeast louisiana through federal grants
company awaits decision on separate funding for baton rouge or reserve resilience projects

baton rouge, la. – thanks to partnerships between entergy louisiana and local governments, several building resilient infrastructure and communities grants will be used to bolster the company’s electric infrastructure in multiple southeast louisiana parishes. separately, the company is awaiting decisions on two grid resilience and innovative partnerships grant applications for proposed grid hardening in the baton rouge and reserve areas. these efforts aim to strengthen the grid, reduce storm-related damage and speed up restoration times, ensuring greater resilience for the state and its economy.

the need for grid resilience was highlighted by the recent impact of hurricane francine on southeast louisiana. although the storm disrupted electric service for thousands of customers, entergy’s swift and safe restoration of power showcased the importance of a resilient electric system. a hardened grid not only brings normalcy back to communities faster but also aids the region’s economic recovery, helping businesses reopen and the economy restart more quickly.

“the gulf south is a critical economic hub, home to major infrastructure, ports and industries that fuel both national and global commerce,” said phillip may, entergy louisiana president and ceo. “by continuing to strengthen our grid, we’re ensuring that our communities, businesses and critical infrastructure can recover faster and at a lower cost after major storms. this benefits not only louisiana but the entire country.”

entergy louisiana has partnered with several parishes over the past two years to apply for bric funding. three of those parishes, ascension, lafourche and jefferson, were selected by fema to receive grants that will benefit their communities. here are details about the projects:

ascension parish: a $39 million project to fortify nearly 60 miles of power lines, protecting around 5,900 customers and critical infrastructure, including a hospital, schools and government buildings. the project is expected to prevent 5.6 million hours of outages and save nearly $140 million in restoration costs over the next five decades.

lafourche parish: a $25 million project to strengthen 16 miles of power lines, benefitting approximately 13,700 customers, including critical infrastructure like port fourchon and local government buildings. this initiative is expected to prevent more than 550,000 hours of power interruptions over the next 50 years, saving nearly $70 million in restoration costs.

jefferson parish: a $27 million project to harden over 20 miles of power lines that will benefit over 10,500 residences, numerous local businesses and critical infrastructure, including several government buildings and facilities from law enforcement to drainage. the project is expected to prevent more than eight million hours of power interruptions over the next 50 years and save nearly around $165 million in restoration costs.

entergy louisiana’s pursuit of federal funding continues, as the company awaits decisions on two grip grant applications that could secure up to $67 million for projects in baton rouge or $54 million for projects in reserve. these grants, provided through the bipartisan infrastructure law, would fund half the cost of the projects, designed to reduce damage from storms, lower restoration costs and improve day-to-day reliability.

“strengthening the grid for our customers is a top priority,” added may. “when we make these investments, we’re not only preparing for the next storm—we’re also ensuring a stronger, more resilient future for all of louisiana.”

about entergy 19 sep 2024 13:30:00 -0500entergy’s storm team restores power to virtually all customers following hurricane francine
new orleans – entergy’s louisiana storm team has restored power to virtually all customers who can safely receive electric service after the impact of hurricane francine. crews are continuing to work on restoring power to a small number of customers along certain water routes, as well as some customers in the hardest-hit areas of terrebonne parish, with plans to have service restored in terrebonne by late tonight.

the category 2 storm made landfall in terrebonne parish, packing sustained winds of approximately 100 miles per hour. in just three days, entergy restored power to 90% of customers who experienced outages, a remarkable achievement given that restoration timelines for storms of francine’s intensity have historically taken longer.

the company credits its swift restoration efforts to ongoing training and enhancements made to its incident response program, thorough planning by utility leaders and teams ahead of the storm’s landfall and new technologies like drones aiding damage assessments. in addition, more resilient infrastructure resulting from improvements and upgrades to the grid in recent years also helped expedite the return of electric service to our communities.

“we appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding as we worked tirelessly to restore power,” said phillip may, entergy louisiana president and ceo. “our team is deeply committed to this work, and we’re grateful for the support our employees and contractors received from the community.”

he added, “restoring power is what we’re trained to do, and we’ll continue to be there for our customers, always ready to respond to whatever comes our way.”

entergy began preparing for francine when it was still an area of disturbed weather in the lower gulf of mexico. the company activated its incident command structure and later, its state command center in baton rouge. different departments, including planning, resources, logistics and operations, worked collaboratively to anticipate and respond to potential outages.

in anticipation of increased vegetation-related damage due to last summer’s drought and other environmental factors, the company deployed additional tree trimmers and secured specialized equipment, including backyard machines. entergy also staged materials, trucks and personnel near areas expected to sustain the most damage, enabling restoration efforts to begin immediately once it was safe.

the most extensive damage occurred in the bayou region, where waterways, swamps and cane fields posed challenges for utility crews. however, entergy’s storm team utilized a helicopter with a grapple hook to clear debris from transmission lines and airboats with buckets to facilitate repairs in swampy areas. meanwhile, marsh buggies helped navigate saturated terrain, ensuring restoration efforts continued unabated.

at the height of response efforts, over 8,000 storm team members worked around the clock, utilizing every available tool and resource to restore service and a sense of normalcy to affected customers. behind the scenes, employees and contractors ensured crews had access to meals, rest and safe working conditions, all coordinated from command centers across the state, including the company’s louisiana distribution operations center.

“we’re incredibly grateful to our storm team and the mutual assistance crews from across the country who joined forces to help us restore power, including in the new orleans area,” said deanna rodriguez, entergy new orleans president and ceo. “no utility can tackle these challenges alone, and we’re thankful for the collaboration and hard work that made it possible to get the lights back on for our customers.”

a contingent of utility workers will remain in some of the hardest-hit areas to not only energize the electric system along water routes, but also to perform additional work aimed at ensuring the company continues to provide customers with reliable service. this work could require crews to isolate or deenergize portions of the electric system, so if a customer who was affected by francine sees an outage after being restored, it could be due to this additional work.

to view photos of entergy’s response efforts following hurricane francine, visit the company’s <a 12 sep 2024 20:57:00 -0500entergy’s louisiana storm team assessing damage and restoring power following hurricane francine
baton rouge, la. – entergy’s louisiana storm team consisting of lineworkers, tree trimmers, and scouts, among other support personnel, are working to simultaneously assess the electric system and restore over 300,000 customers who lost power following hurricane francine. as of 12:30 p.m., approximately 250,0000 customers across louisiana were without power, with approximately 50,000 of those being in new orleans.

francine made landfall in terrebonne parish as a category 2 storm with sustained winds of around 100 miles per hour. while outages are widespread across southeast louisiana, the hardest-hit areas appear to be the coastal parts of terrebonne and lafourche parishes, as well as parishes like assumption and ascension.

entergy new orleans and entergy louisiana continue to urge everyone to be safe. stay away from downed power lines as well as flooded areas. do not walk in standing water and do not venture into areas of debris since you may not be able to see a power line that could still be energized and dangerous. additionally, never use a generator indoors, including in homes, garages, crawl spaces or partially enclosed areas, even with ventilation. generators can produce high levels of carbon monoxide very quickly.

“this will be a marathon, not a sprint,” said deanna rodriguez president and ceo of entergy new orleans. “we’re going as fast and safe as we can. this is not just a restoration effort for us; it’s a matter of helping people get their lives back together as soon as possible.”

the restoration process

entergy’s louisiana storm team began restoration efforts overnight after the storm passed and it was safe for crews to begin assessing damage and restoring power. to assess damage in harder to reach areas, we use advanced technology, such as infrared cameras, drones and satellite imagery to assess damage by foot, vehicles, airboats, high-water vehicles and helicopters.

as damage assessments are completed, entergy louisiana and entergy new orleans can provide restoration time estimates; however, where possible, restoration happens in parallel. the restoration process is done in an orderly, deliberate manner. for example, the company works to restore power to essential customers first – hospitals, police, fire, communications and water, sanitary and transportation – and repair lines that could bring power to large numbers of customers as quickly as possible. power is restored faster in areas with less damage, while restoration times in the hardest hit areas depend on the extent of damage to entergy’s electrical facilities.

“just like in past hurricanes, we ask all of our customers – those who have had power restored and those still waiting – to be patient as we work to make repairs,” said phillip may, president and ceo of entergy louisiana. “we understand our customers want to know when they’re going to get their power back and we’re eager to provide that information to them.”

he added, “as we make repairs throughout the day today, our scouts and others will be gathering the necessary intel from the field so that we can develop initial restoration estimates.”

the company is bringing in all available resources to work around the clock to ensure steady progress is made. customers can stay informed on restoration efforts through the following channels:

download 12 sep 2024 12:47:00 -0500entergy assembling team of thousands to respond to tropical storm francine
customers urged to be safe and prepared for potential power outages

new orleans – entergy’s louisiana utilities are staging equipment and materials and assembling a storm team of thousands to respond to tropical storm francine. the company is committed to quickly and safely restoring power as soon as it is safe to do so. entergy new orleans and entergy louisiana are also urging customers to make final preparations today and to be ready for potential power outages, particularly in south and southeast louisiana, where the greatest impacts from the storm are expected.

as of tuesday morning, approximately 1,600 employees and contractors are on the ground in louisiana, with an additional 3,400 resources requested—bringing the total to around 5,000 personnel, including lineworkers, tree trimmers, scouts, and support staff. additional resources are expected to be arriving this afternoon and into tomorrow morning.

“as we do with any storm that threatens our service territory, we’re taking tropical storm francine very seriously and have activated our methodical storm response process,” said steven benyard, vice president of reliability for entergy in louisiana. “our goal is to ensure we have the right resources in place to restore power efficiently and, above all, safely.

he added, “customers can rest assured that we are prepared to respond swiftly once it’s safe to begin restoration.”

given ongoing concerns about the effects of last year’s drought and other environmental factors on vegetation, entergy’s louisiana utilities have made a significant allocation for tree trimmers. of the 5,000 anticipated resources, approximately 1,400 will be tree trimmers tasked with removing vegetation to allow lineworkers to safely repair and work on electric equipment. this allocation is double the number of tree trimmers used for previous storms, such as hurricanes isidore and lili.

the number of resources may change as more weather-related data becomes available and the company’s models provide updated damage predictions. forecasting potential impacts is fluid and adjusting staffing levels is strategic and will continue until restoration work is completed.

in addition to making staffing decisions, entergy new orleans and entergy louisiana are:

completing pre-storm checklists at service centers across the state to ensure readiness.

patrolling critical distribution and transmission power lines and addressing any identified issues.

securing specialized equipment like track machines and backyard units that may be needed.

setting up staging sites and preparing to receive and integrate both local and out-of-state crews into the louisiana storm response team.

ensuring that materials such as utility poles, power lines, transformers and other electric equipment are available at laydown yards.

depending on its path and intensity, francine has the potential to cause widespread and extended power outages, particularly in south and southeast louisiana. entergy urges customers to stay safe by maintaining a safe distance from utility crews and their work sites. while some tasks, like damage assessments and field switching, can be completed on the ground as the storm moves out, lineworkers cannot safely use bucket trucks to work on electric equipment until winds decrease to 30 mph or less.

customers urged to be storm ready

as the storm approaches the louisiana coast, entergy is encouraging customers to finalize their preparations, stay alert to electrical hazards and prepare for potential power outages. for households that depend on life-support or other medical equipment, it is especially important to be prepared for unplanned, extended outages. while crews are dedicated to restoring power, we advise customers to have a backup system and plan in place for relocating or providing a backup power source should power outages or other emergencies occur.

in addition, customers should consider keeping the following items on hand:

flashlights and batteries

a battery-powered radio

a battery-powered lantern

battery-operated cellphone chargers

canned foods, a can opener and bottled water

camping gear, such as portable lanterns and cook stoves

extra batteries in a variety of sizes for extended power outages, along with batteries for critical-care devices

learn more about how to make an emergency kit and get important severe weather safety tips on the entergy storm center.

if customers do experience a power outage, please report it to entergy and consider the following tips:

keep your refrigerator and freezer closed as much as possible. they will keep food cold for up to two days if doors are not opened and closed frequently. covering the unit with a blanket or other insulating material will help retain the cold. in an extended outage, store food in an ice chest.

disconnect or turn off major appliances that would go on automatically when power is restored, such as an air conditioning or heating unit, electric water heater or television set. when service is restored, there will be less chance of a circuit overload.

don't plug a portable generator into a wall socket. the power can travel into power lines outside the house and hurt or kill someone.

if power comes back on at a neighbor's house but you are still without service, call 1-800-entergy (800-368-3749). you may have experienced a problem in addition to the one which affected your neighbor.

restoration work can be dangerous. stay a safe distance away from active work zones and restoration workers on the job.

please have patience. entergy crews and contractors are dedicated to restoring service as quickly as possible, regardless of the weather.

staying informed

staying informed before, during and after a tropical system strikes is just as important as making personal storm plans. here’s how 08 sep 2024 19:10:00 -0500entergy louisiana customers to see less fees and a bill credit from two separate lpsc settlements
settlements enable more grid investment, expand eligibility for bill discounts and resolve litigation

baton rouge, la. – the louisiana public service commission approved two settlements wednesday that will benefit entergy louisiana customers, support the company’s operations and investments in the state’s power grid over the next three years and end long-running litigation at the federal energy regulatory commission regarding grand gulf nuclear station.

these approvals are a pivotal step in ensuring that entergy louisiana continues to provide clean, reliable and affordable electric service to more than a million customers across the state. key components of the rate settlement include a reduction of late fees, elimination of connection and reconnection fees and the expansion of eligibility for low-income senior bill discounts.

the commission’s modification and extension of entergy louisiana’s formula rate plan includes key provisions designed to protect customers while positioning the utility to support the state’s growing economy. the approved rate framework also caps profit margins and commits the company to strict reliability targets.

the formula rate plan, which sets a utility’s base rates using actual costs and revenue with annual adjustments, better positions entergy louisiana to make necessary improvements to the grid. these improvements are critical not only for everyday life in our homes, schools, hospitals and businesses, but also for attracting new investments that bring well-paying jobs and drive local spending. this settlement sends a clear message that louisiana is open for business and is ready to support industrial and commercial operations with a stable and reliable power grid.

resolution of litigation

in addition to the formula rate plan, the commission’s decision also authorizes settlement of long-running litigation at the ferc involving entergy louisiana, system energy resources, inc. and the commission. this resolution, which is subject to approval by ferc, would result in millions of dollars in refunds to customers. the timing of the refund from seri to entergy louisiana is dependent upon action at the ferc. seri is an entergy subsidiary that is the majority owner of the grand gulf nuclear station in port gibson, miss.

key customer benefits

the approved regulatory blueprint includes several modifications designed to benefit customers directly:

reduction of late fees: the amount of late fees charged to customers who fall behind on their bills will be reduced.

elimination of connection and reconnection fees: fees associated with connecting and reconnecting services will be eliminated.

expansion of low-income senior discounts: eligibility for monthly discounts will be expanded to include more low-income older adults.

while these changes come with a modest increase in customer bills, the company believes the benefits of a reliable and stronger power grid far outweigh the costs.

to eliminate legacy rate structures and to ensure all residential customers pay the same rates across the states, legacy entergy louisiana customers and legacy entergy gulf states customers will see different monthly changes.

legacy entergy louisiana customers who use about 1,000 kwh per month will see an initial bill increase of approximately $0.20 per month, while legacy entergy gulf states customers using the same amount of electricity will experience an increase of approximately $6.30 per month. however, for legacy entergy gulf states customers, this impact will decrease to around $3.90 per month by early 2025. these rate structure changes will largely eliminate regional pricing differences, marking the first time that all entergy louisiana residential customers are charged the same base rates.

commitment to reliability and resilience

entergy louisiana remains committed to continuing its investments in projects that strengthen the electric system’s reliability – keeping the lights on with minimal service disruptions – and resilience, ensuring a swift recovery when outages do occur. the commission’s approval of phase one of entergy louisiana’s resilience plan, combined with the regulatory blueprint, sets the stage for a prosperous and brighter future for louisiana.

“we deeply value the trust our customers place in us and are proud to be their utility miles of power lines

lake charles, la. – entergy louisiana representatives and local officials gathered in lake charles today to mark the start of phase one of the company’s comprehensive grid resilience plan that will result in customers experiencing shorter and lesser amount of power outages when severe weather strikes. the groundbreaking ceremony, set against a backdrop of bucket trucks and utility workers, heralds a new era of hardened infrastructure and accelerated, less costly recovery for communities vulnerable to major storms. this initiative also lends to a stronger, more robust economy, better suited for life along the gulf coast, particularly in light of the substantial economic opportunities ahead.

“we harden the grid throughout each year, however, the launch of our new resilience program marks the start of the most comprehensive grid strengthening program in louisiana history. it’s a transformative moment for energy and economic prosperity in louisiana,” said phillip may, entergy louisiana president and ceo “we’ve always been proud to serve the lake charles area, and we eagerly anticipate a future where our communities are stronger, more resilient and positioned to grow and thrive.”

according to the lsu center for energy studies’ 2024 gulf coast energy outlook, the gulf coast has seen over $262 billion in announced energy manufacturing investments since 2013, with louisiana capturing more than 50% of that share. further, louisiana 2022年世界杯比分 reports that business investment in the state reached historic levels last year, with companies announcing over $25 billion in new projects.

the energy sector, notably in chemical manufacturing and lng exports, alongside investments aimed at reducing carbon emissions, is seeing unprecedented growth. southwest louisiana stands out as a national leader in industrial construction and lng exports, supported by extensive maritime infrastructure, such as the calcasieu ship channel and the port of lake charles—the 10th busiest port in the nation by tonnage.

these operations and industries are critical to not only the local economy, but also the national and global economy. companies and their workforces, from the energy industry to hospitals and schools, depend on reliable power to produce commodities and provide much-needed services. residents and families also depend on reliable power to reach their goals and enjoy life within their communities.

over the next five years, entergy louisiana’s comprehensive resilience plan will fortify electric infrastructure statewide, enhancing the power grid and community resilience while safeguarding louisiana’s economic well-being. the initial phase includes 2,100 projects targeting 69,000 distribution and transmission structures. hardening measures could include replacing electric equipment such as poles, guy wires, anchors and power lines to meet the latest wind loading design standards.

in the lake charles area, the company will invest around $107 million over three years to harden the grid, including upgrading approximately 4,275 distribution poles to withstand winds up to 125 mph and 115 transmission structures to endure winds up to 150 mph, covering a total of 148 miles of transmission and distribution power lines. the first project, already underway in the oak park area, involves hardening about 315 distribution poles, encompassing over five miles of power lines.

“we’re excited to join entergy, lake charles memorial hospital and other community members today to celebrate a more prosperous and resilient future for lake charles and its surrounding communities,” said lake charles mayor nic hunter. “utility and healthcare services are among the most critical in our city, and by strengthening the electric system, we ensure these essential services are available to our citizens year-round.”

to develop its comprehensive grid resilience plan and identify priority projects, entergy louisiana used a data-driven approach that meticulously evaluated thousands of potential storm scenarios. the plan’s anticipated benefits include approximately $1.2 billion in avoided future storm restoration costs, improvements in everyday electric service reliability and customer savings related to reduced post-storm outages.

by mitigating restoration costs and outages from future extreme weather events, the resilience plan will help shorten evacuations and reduce time away from home and work, ultimately aiding louisiana communities in faster recovery.

mike francis, chair of the louisiana public service commission and representative of district 4, was among those who supported entergy louisiana’s resilience plan. francis and his family have strong connections to communities across louisiana, including lake charles, which his wife sheila, a lagrange high school graduate, fondly calls her hometown.

"having grown up in north louisiana, run a successful business in south louisiana and served many constituents across the southwestern and central parts of the state on the public service commission, i understand the critical importance of industry to our economy and well-being, as well as the need for a reliable and strong power grid," francis said.

he added, "i share the enthusiasm and excitement of entergy louisiana and local partners as they break ground on a grid resilience program that will improve electric infrastructure and ultimately strengthen our communities."

for more information about number of participating u.s. win members, the number of individuals and public sectors reached and the variety of topics covered.

“it was the dedication, hard work and leadership our team demonstrated last year that allowed us to be awarded, for the second year in a row, the most reactive chapter for 2023’s nuclear science week,” said danielle andreozzi, entergy nuclear design engineer submissions from 10 chapters who all did an amazing job with their outreach efforts. the creativity and diversity in events were fantastic. approximately 3,000 individuals of all ages were able to growing reliability and resilience needs, while balancing affordability for its customers, said chair and chief executive officer drew marsh, during the company’s 75th annual meeting of shareholders today.

“as we look ahead, we see unprecedented growth potential for our company and our region stemming from a number of factors, including strong industrial sales,” said marsh. “this growth has been driven by industrial manufacturing investments along the gulf coast area, which has advantages unmatched anywhere else that are driving investment to our region.”

regarding entergy’s customers’ desire to achieve their own carbon reduction goals, marsh added that the company is “focused on capturing that tremendous growth opportunity for the benefit of all our customers. we’re meeting our customers’ growing reliability and resilience needs, all while balancing bill affordability for our customers. together, we’re writing a growth story for the entergy of tomorrow.”

to meet our customers’ expectations, entergy has built its capital plan across generation, transmission and distribution investments.

entergy is focused on initiatives to improve outcomes for all stakeholders, including the completion of major rate filings and decisions, operational investments, and continued progress on several key customer solutions like green tariffs, renewable energy and other carbon-free energy projects.

marsh cited several achievements for the business in 2023:

“entergy's generation fleet had an outstanding year while maintaining a focus on safety. even with challenges from record-breaking heat last summer, we achieved our best forced outage rate since 2011. not only did we meet our customers' demands, we also exported power to other utilities during the moments that mattered.”

“2023 was a strong year for customer growth. we signed 61 new electric service agreements, representing more than 1.3 gigawatts of generation capacity. and, driven by customer interest, we continued to invest in renewable energy and other clean technology solutions. we now have more than 900 megawatts in service and approximately 2,100 megawatts of renewable energy projects are approved planned investment by amazon web services, or aws, which received supportive legislation finalized by mississippi lawmakers earlier this year, will bring new jobs and 2022年世界杯比分 opportunities to the state.”

“our customers are very interested in resilience investment, and our stakeholder engagement focus on resilience in 2023 has led to important milestones in early 2024. those include approval by the new orleans city council to invest in important hardening, battery and microgrid <a first critical steps to improve our network to meet changing customer expectations for reliability and resilience in an information economy and an increasingly hostile weather environment.”

“we again delivered steady and predictable growth last year, with adjusted earnings per 03 may 2024 15:45:00 -0500phase one of entergy louisiana’s comprehensive grid resilience plan approved by lpsc
2,100 projects aimed at reducing restoration costs and enabling faster community recovery following storms

baton rouge, la. – phase one of entergy louisiana’s comprehensive grid resilience plan was approved at today’s louisiana public service commission meeting in many, louisiana. the plan, which will take place over five years, aims to fortify electric infrastructure across the state, making the company’s power grid and the communities that depend on it more resilient, while safeguarding louisiana’s economic well-being.

“our resilience plan is a proactive approach that will help bring more of our electric infrastructure up to higher standards, keep pace with mother nature and protect what matters most — customers, homes and businesses within the communities we serve,” said phillip may, entergy louisiana president and ceo. “although we have been building resilience into our power grid for years, we must accelerate those efforts now in light of the reality that storms are becoming more frequent and severe.”

phase one of the company’s resilience plan includes 2,100 projects aimed at reinforcing critical structures on both the transmission and distribution systems. these projects, touching approximately 69,000 structures, are projected to yield a benefit-cost ratio of almost 9:1, indicating that the benefits will far outweigh the costs.

the company used a data-driven approach to meticulously evaluate thousands of potential storm scenarios to identify projects, many of which involve replacing existing utility poles with stronger ones designed to withstand higher winds and more extreme weather events. the anticipated benefits of the resilience plan include approximately $1.2 billion in avoided future storm restoration costs, improvements in the everyday reliability of electric service and customer savings related to shortening post-storm outages. by mitigating the restoration costs and outages resulting from future extreme weather events, the plan will help shorten evacuations and time away from home and work, ultimately helping louisiana communities get back on their feet more quickly.

may added, "louisiana and its people have long had a spirit of resilience and today’s bold and historic approval by the louisiana public service commission, greenlighting efforts to harden our power grid, only strengthens that notion.”

while phase one of the resilience plan is estimated to cost approximately $1.9 billion over five years, the initial monthly bill increase for a residential customer using approximately 1,000 kwh would be around 57 cents, steadily increasing to approximately $7 a month at the end of the five-year period, and then gradually decreasing over time. these costs will be reflected on monthly bills as an individual resilience program rider starting at the end of this year or early next year. simultaneously, the company will continue aggressively seeking and applying for federal grants that, if received, would be applied toward the cost of the plan approved by the commission and lower costs for all customers.

to ensure transparency and accountability, entergy louisiana will provide quarterly monitoring and construction reports and be subject to an unprecedented pole performance metric. if the new poles installed by the company do not withstand future storms as designed, bill credits would be provided to customers based on criteria that include failure percentages and pole material type.

to learn more about how entergy is working to create a brighter, more resilient louisiana, visit <a that would, if approved, secure approximately $240 million to harden portions of the company’s electric system in baton rouge and reserve. the two proposed line hardening and microgrid projects would help speed up restoration and recovery efforts following storms, reducing overall impacts to customers and local economies and making our communities more resilient.

the funding opportunities entergy is pursuing are made available by the bipartisan infrastructure law through the u.s. department of energy’s grip (grid resilience and innovative partnerships) program. the federal agency is expected to announce final awards this fall, and winning submissions will receive funding for half of the project’s cost.

“this initiative underscores our unwavering commitment to enhancing the resilience of our power grid while simultaneously investing in the communities we serve,” said phillip may, entergy louisiana president and ceo. “through strategic partnerships and innovative solutions, we are not only safeguarding our infrastructure against future challenges but also empowering our state to thrive.”

the gulf south is home to a premier economic hub with many advantages, including world-class infrastructure, access to seven of the top 20 u.s. ports, favorable commodity spreads, workforce availability and a growing industrial customer base. government investments in the resilience of entergy’s electric grid would benefit the entire country, given the company’s critical role in powering national energy security and the global economy through interstate transportation and international commerce.

the two projects presented in these applications, if funding is approved by the doe, would better serve entergy’s customers through hardening of grid infrastructure, microgrid components and improved grid resilience for disadvantaged communities. any federal grants received would directly benefit customers.

complementing the infrastructure upgrades, in both baton rouge and reserve, a community benefits working group comprising local stakeholders will oversee a $2 million community benefits plan, prioritizing
company’s blueprint to support burgeoning needs of businesses and industry

jefferson, la. – to power the state’s economic progress from metairie to monroe, baton rouge, lake charles and beyond, entergy louisiana will begin executing a strategic blueprint for building new electric infrastructure that meets the burgeoning needs of businesses and industry to power job growth throughout the state.

louisiana has a generational opportunity that is set to create new jobs, new investment and additional revenues for local governments as local business and industries and new companies seek to grow in our state. it is an opportunity that is being driven, in large part, by what the state already has to offer such as prime operating locations along waterways like the mississippi river and access to the gulf of mexico, as well as the availability of a well-trained workforce, feedstocks and clean, reliable and affordable power.

in response, entergy is doing its part to support 2022年世界杯比分 and the communities it serves by powering this opportunity with investments in all levels of its power grid. this investment is in addition to entergy’s long-standing investment in job training programs in louisiana to develop and prepare a workforce that will benefit from this economic growth opportunity.

at the transmission level, entergy plans to build a new 500/230kv substation in iberville parish and nearly 60 miles of new 230kv transmission lines that would cross five parishes from iberville to jefferson. these transmission components were included in a filing made recently with the louisiana public service commission; it is one of several related filings entergy plans to make this year with the commission.

“louisiana industries all across our state have steadfastly supported our workforce and local communities for many years,” said phillip may, entergy louisiana president and ceo. “at entergy, we are committed to sustaining a partnership with them by meeting their growing demand for clean, reliable and affordable power.”

in addition to the transmission-related filing, entergy has proposed a comprehensive resilience plan that, if approved by the commission, would upgrade transmission- and distribution-level electric equipment across its louisiana service territory. this plan would strengthen the power grid for the benefit of all customers and help protect local communities and economy from future weather threats.

on the generation side, the company is also taking steps to make sure customers have access to clean energy through renewable sources. increasingly, companies are turning to their utility provider to help them meet sustainability goals, and to do this, entergy has gotten innovative by electrifying ports, for example, and is working to develop the largest expansion of renewable power in louisiana history.

in addition, the company is making sure it can balance supply and demand by maintaining a diverse mix of generation resources that include not only renewables, but also nuclear and natural gas. to meet the unique needs of customers near the coast that are vital to local and national economies, the company recently filed a request to construct a floating natural gas power plant that would be called bayou power station.

to learn more about how entergy louisiana is working to create a bright future for our state, visit <a 25 mar 2024 16:30:00 -0500bayou power station proposed to enhance coastal reliability and resilience
112-megawatt facility would support area vital to local and national economies

baton rouge, la. – entergy louisiana filed a request with the louisiana public service commission for approval to construct the bayou power station. this transformative project represents a significant investment in the region's energy infrastructure, aimed at bolstering resilience and reliability for communities and industries along the coast that are vital to local and national economies.

the proposed $411 million bayou power station would be a 112-megawatt floating natural gas power station, equipped with black-start capability and the ability to rapidly start- up and ramp-down. situated atop a barge across from a substation in leeville, the power station would play a crucial role in supporting areas like port fourchon, golden meadow, leeville and grand isle through a microgrid system.

while providing jobs and commodities, these areas, which are part of what is referred to as the bayou region, play a vital role in our nation’s energy security. for example, hundreds of companies use port fourchon, which services 95% of the gulf of mexico’s deepwater energy production and handles 10-15% of the nation’s domestic and foreign oil, as a base of operation. meanwhile, the strip from golden meadow to grand isle serves as a hub for the seafood industry, which accounts for one out of every 70 jobs in louisiana and has a multi-billion-dollar annual economic impact. there are also many companies in the area that provide manufacturing and other services to both the energy and seafood industries.

key components of entergy louisiana’s overall project would include the construction of bayou power station, expansion of the leeville substation and transmission connections to ensure seamless power delivery. the microgrid system would provide essential backup power during outages, serving a diverse mix of residential, commercial and industrial customers, including vital industries located at port fourchon.

"whether you’re located in a big city, small town or along the coast, entergy louisiana is committed to providing our customers with affordable and reliable power," said phillip may, entergy louisiana president and ceo. “our customers in areas like grand isle, golden meadow and port fourchon play an important role in our state’s tourism and seafood industries and energy sector, and the bayou power station is a unique solution to meeting their power needs into the future.”

the bayou power station aligns with entergy louisiana's strategy to integrate various energy resources — including natural gas, nuclear and renewables — to balance supply and demand effectively. further, the project would support a more reliable and resilient energy ecosystem, capable of meeting the unique needs of customers in an area with challenging geography and aiding in recovery efforts following major storms.

the addition of bayou power station would complement projects that have been completed over the past couple years to build resilience into the electric system near the coast. some examples of these projects include the caminada substation, which was elevated 20 feet off the ground on a concrete platform; upgrading around seven miles of transmission lines with about 80 steel structures between cut off and golden meadow; and undergrounding around eight miles of distribution lines along louisiana highway 1 from leeville to grand isle and taking strategic steps to fortify the overhead electric system in the area.

to learn more about how entergy is rouge, la. – entergy louisiana is proud to announce that the company has reached a new milestone in its commitment to using sustainable energy solutions to make its generation portfolio even cleaner while fostering 2022年世界杯比分. for the first time in the company's history, renewable power has surpassed coal in energy production.

according to data from the company’s 2023 power generation report, renewable energy production totaled over 1.1 million megawatt-hours (mwh), exceeding coal's output of just over 900,000 mwh during the same period. this milestone underscores the increasing role of renewable energy sources in louisiana's energy mix as well as economics that favor cleaner generating resources such as modern gas.

"this achievement reflects entergy louisiana's unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and innovation," said phillip may, entergy louisiana president and ceo. "we are proud to lead the way in transitioning towards cleaner energy sources while continuing to deliver reliable and affordable power to our customers."

there are both economic and environmental considerations for adopting renewable power. solar energy, for example, offers numerous benefits, including reduced greenhouse gas emissions, improved air quality and job creation within the local community.

today, nearly 25% of the company’s generation portfolio comes from carbon-free resources, including nuclear and renewable technologies. entergy louisiana’s long-term vision includes further investments in clean energy infrastructure, especially utility-scale solar because it is becoming more economic and dependable. the company’s vision also includes further investments in energy efficiency programs and partnerships with local stakeholders to promote sustainability and resilience.

currently, entergy louisiana has approximately 230 megawatts of renewable resources, including the capital region solar facility, which began delivering power to the portfolio to over 3,000 mw in various stages of development and approval.

these newly approved solar developments in louisiana are consistent with 沙特vs墨西哥让球’s plans for as much as 15 to 17 gigawatts of renewable resources by the end of 2031. the company previously announced a commitment to achieving parish

ponchatoula, la. – entergy louisiana is expanding a substation in ponchatoula along highway 22 to improve the electric system that serves approximately 18,000 residential and business customers in the area, including a local hospital. the substation expansion builds on several reliability projects that have been performed in the southern portion of tangipahoa parish over the past couple years.

as part of the work, crews expanded the substation yard, built a new control house and additional overhead equipment and installed two new high-voltage breakers. the work at the substation in ponchatoula, as well as relevant work at two other area substations (one in hammond and another in madisonville), will sectionalize the local electric system and make it more resilient. crews anticipate these benefits will be realized in the spring.

the work at the substation in ponchatoula is part of entergy louisiana’s ongoing efforts to improve its transmission and distribution systems in tangipahoa parish. it is just one of many projects that are underway or have been completed recently.

examples of distribution work that was completed in the last two years include:

tickfaw area – crews upgraded more than two miles of power lines and built a new approximately half-mile power line west of tickfaw that brought a new source of power to the area. in addition, crews installed a regulator bank, which monitors voltage, and a recloser, a smart device that adds automation to the electric system and helps protect it from temporary impacts.

hammond, independence and springfield areas– crews strategically replaced or installed fuses, reclosers and regulators to improve the reliability of electric service.

ponchatoula area – crews strategically replaced utility poles and equipment like crossarms and insulators at the top of poles and installed five smart devices like reclosers and trip savers. most of this work took place in the northern portion of ponchatoula.

in addition to distribution-level work, entergy also performed significant transmission-level work at substations in ponchatoula, hammond and amite within the last five years. projects included modernizing protection equipment, transformers and overhead equipment; replacing circuit breakers, arrestors and insulators; and enhancing animal mitigation measures taken at a substation in hammond.

“we know our customers are counting on us to provide them with reliable power and that is exactly why we are continuing to invest in our electric system,” said phillip may, entergy louisiana president and ceo. “we’re proud to serve many residents and businesses in tangipahoa parish and are committed to providing them with the electric service they expect.”

beyond ongoing work at the substation in ponchatoula and projects that were completed over the past couple years, crews will be upgrading nearly three miles of power lines along esterbrook road in the southeast portion of ponchatoula and installing a new recloser.

to learn more
baton rouge, la. – entergy louisiana crews and contractors will be performing significant reliability work on its electric system over the next six months in rural areas west and south of baton rouge. the work, which will take place in or near livonia, grosse tete, plaquemine and bayou pigeon, aims to improve service for around 5,400 entergy and pointe coupee electric residential and business customers.

pc electric customers in these areas will benefit from the reliability work entergy louisiana is performing because the pc electric’s wholesale power provider receives power from entergy’s power grid. the local electric system is an interconnected system of wires, poles and meter points, among other equipment.

the reliability work began in early november and is expected to be completed in the spring of next year. the overall project includes upgrades on four distribution-level power lines:

livonia – new utility poles and crossarms, equipment that keeps power lines in the air, will be installed. most of the work will be performed along highway 90, la 41 and la 77.

grosse tete – along with miscellaneous improvements, more than 70 new utility poles will be installed and substation equipment will be upgraded. most of the work will be performed near highway 77 and sydney road.

plaquemine – along with trimming trees and limbs away from power lines to mitigate the potential for vegetation-related outages, around eight new utility poles and six crossarms will be installed. most of the work will be performed along highway 75.

bayou pigeon – a self-healing network, which consists of smart devices and automation being built into the electric system to make it more resilient, will be constructed. this includes the installation of three reclosers as well as nine new utility poles with five of them being 60-foot composite poles. most of the work will be performed along highway 69 and highway 404 near white castle.

entergy louisiana’s dedicated operations team, including engineers and designers, combed through data, performed field inspections and collaborated with pc electric team members to determine where and how upgrades should be made. the multi-faceted initiative the company is taking will include everything from tree trimming to the installation of new poles and the incorporation of automation to harden the electric system and make it more resilient.

“we’re always working to strengthen the electric system in communities we serve across louisiana and that includes in rural areas,” said phillip may, entergy louisiana president and ceo. “we’re looking forward to putting new poles in
