our commitment to serving southeast texas

03/27/2020

electricity plays a huge part in our lives. times like now only underscores the responsibility and importance of our commitment to power life for our customers. no matter the circumstances.

at entergy, we make every attempt to limit customer interruptions. to keep the power reliably flowing, entergy texas crews regularly work to make reliability upgrades to improve equipment with newer, more modern technology.

for crews to safely complete their work and have as little impact on customers, entergy might be required to conduct planned outages. planned outages occur when we've identified equipment that has already disrupted service, or we believe it could cause a future outage. at this time, we are assessing our planned outages, looking for ways to minimize our impact to customers while also ensuring the safe and reliable transfer of power.

the goal of a planned outage is to prevent future interruptions that could last longer, impact more customers and risk the safety of our crews responding. it's a trade-off: inconveniencing fewer customers for a period of time in exchange for providing lineworkers safer working conditions while upgrading equipment so we can continue to serve our customers reliably.

the need for a planned outage is not too different from doing work at your home. think about when you’re making improvements to your home that involve electricity. before making your repairs, you shut off the circuit breaker to the area where you are working. completing reliability work on the electric grid is similar.

in the event of a planned outage, entergy will notify customers via phone. the recorded message will inform the customers of the date, time and expected duration of the planned outage. to ensure your contact information is updated, please visit myentergy.

we know a loss of service is never convenient, especially right now. we appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers as our crews safely work to implement reliability improvements to serve you better.

an important reminder about scams: remember, entergy never demands immediate payment from customers over the phone. you shouldn't give your personal information to strangers. if a call sounds suspicious, hang-up and call 1-800-entergy (1-800-368-3749) to speak directly with an entergy customer service representative. if you believe you are a victim of this scam, notify the proper authorities, such as the local police or the state attorney general's office. learn more here.
