at entergy arkansas, we’re prepared to respond to severe weather long before it impacts our state. as the recent storms entered our service territory yesterday, crews worked throughout the night to restore power where it was safe to do so and will continue working until the last customer is restored.

while nearly 11,000 customers were impacted at the peak of the storm, the reliability work we have completed helped the system withstand the strong winds, flash flooding and lightning experienced overnight.

the hardest hit was hot springs village, where approximately 30 utility poles were destroyed by a tornado. other counties that experienced large outages included the flippin area in marion county, where straight line winds broke about 15 poles.

workers expect to have most of the impacted areas restored today. of course, rebuilding the flippin and hot spring village systems may take longer, and we will continue to update impacted customers.

our customer service teams are working with city officials to assist them with any needs they may have, such as working to restore critical customers, water systems, shelters and emergency services.

“in times of natural disasters, restoring power is just the beginning of our commitment to our communities. our thoughts and prayers go out to those who were impacted by these strong storms,” said ventrell thompson, vice president of entergy arkansas customer service. “as we continue to assess the damage and pick up the pieces, we are here to provide support.”

if you have been severely impacted and will not be able to take power to your home, we want to work with you as you rebuild. we are here to assist you with your account, billing, or other needs. to receive assistance, call 1-800-entergy (1-800-368-3749).

“we want to meet the needs of our communities by being consistent with our commitment to powering life for our customers every day,” thompson said. “we appreciate your continued patience as we work diligently to safely restore power and build back a more resilient system.”

as with any weather event, please be mindful of the following safety tips:

live wires can be deadly. stay away from downed power lines. call 1-800-9outage or 1-800-968-8243 to report downed or dangling power lines, damaged or downed poles or other damaged equipment.

do not trim trees or remove debris on or near downed power lines. only power company crews or their contractors should remove trees or limbs touching power lines. again, stay away from downed power lines.

keep away from the immediate areas where crews are working. there is always the danger of moving equipment and the possibility of construction materials, limbs or overhead wires falling to the ground.

if you plan on using a generator for temporary power, get a licensed electrician and disconnect from the utility electric system before hooking up to your main electric panel.

do not run a generator in a confined space without adequate ventilation. use them only outdoors, following all manufacturers’ safety guidelines.

turn off any electrical appliances that can easily be turned to the off position until power is restored.

check on seniors, who can be particularly susceptible to extreme temperatures.

try to stay off the roads in affected areas. more traffic in bad weather leads to more accidents, including more injuries and fatalities as well as accidents that can damage electrical poles and other equipment, creating outages and impeding the ability of crews to access and repair damage and slowing restoration.

we want to keep you informed and in control. the best way to get information about outages is via entergy’s view outage page on our website. additional resources for your convenience:
