while the costs of goods or services like gasoline and cell phones have increased faster than the rate of inflation, entergy rates have not.
take for example the cost of cable television. according to an article in business insider, the cost of cable increased nearly 47 percent between 1995 and 2015. meanwhile, entergy’s electric bills increased only about 28 percent during that same 20-year period.
the cost of other items has increased much more. a loaf of bread rose 93 percent. the price of eggs went up 140 percent, and a bottle of wine increased a whopping 157 percent.
according to the u.s. energy information administration, entergy’s rates are among the lowest in the country -- 17 percent lower than the regional average and 39 percent lower than the national average of other electric utilities.
rates vary depending on whether customers are residential, business or industrial, but on average, entergy customers pay 7.67 cents per kilowatt-hour.
customers can lower their monthly electric bills even further by taking steps to reduce their energy usage or utilizing the budgeting convenience of level billing.
