07/23/2013

buchanan, n.y. – a former employee of entergy at its indian point energy center was arrested today on federal charges brought by the u.s. attorney's office for falsifying documents at indian point in 2012. indian point employees uncovered the falsification and reported it to plant management who in turn immediately notified the nuclear regulatory commission. entergy conducted a prompt investigation that concluded deliberate falsification of records likely occurred. the individual ended his employment with the company during our investigation. entergy cooperated fully with the nrc throughout its investigation after notifying the agency of the issue.

the apparent falsification related to the quality of fuel in back-up tanks for use in the plant's emergency generators. at no time was the plant in an unsafe condition.  we completed an evaluation of the fuel oil and determined that all the generators would have performed as designed.

falsification of records is totally unacceptable, and there are swift and real consequences for workers who do not exhibit the highest standards of integrity. entergy will cooperate with the u.s. attorney's office as appropriate.
