entergy nuclear taps ferrick as outage vice president; corbin to retire

jackson, miss. – entergy nuclear has named john ferrick, recently site vice president at waterford 3 steam electric station in killona, la., as fleet vice president of outage services at company headquarters in jackson, miss. he is transitioning to the role, working with darrell corbin, current outage vice president, as corbin prepares for retirement in august.

“i want to thank john for his leadership and for his engagement at waterford 3 over the past three years,” said john dinelli, entergy nuclear chief operating officer. “john led the team through some challenging times, including one of the most difficult hurricanes the area has ever faced.”

“in addition, i want to congratulate darrell on a well-earned retirement and thank him for his many contributions,” he continued. “he has been a strong leader and a valued member of the entergy nuclear team for 27 years.”

before becoming site vice president at waterford 3, ferrick spent more than 30 years at indian point energy century in buchanan, n.y., in various leadership positions, including three years as general manager. he has experience in training, production, regulatory assurance, engineering and operations. ferrick has held a senior reactor operator license from indian point since1989. he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering from manhattan college.  

after spending a decade in the u.s. navy, corbin joined entergy in 1996 as a non-licensed operator at palisades nuclear plant in covert, mich., where he spent the next 20 years in various operations roles. in 2015, he became general manager of operations support for entergy’s merchant nuclear plants, and he later moved back to palisades as general manager and then site vice president in 2019. under his leadership, palisades surpassed the plant’s longest-ever production run before closure. corbin then moved to the fleet role of vice president of outage services.
