entergy community power scholarships awarded to six mississippi graduates

jackson, miss. – six community-minded mississippi high school students recently received entergy community power scholarships of $5,000 each for volunteerism and academic success. entergy annually selects graduating seniors from families of employees for this honor.

“the future is so bright for these leaders,” said haley fisackerly, entergy mississippi president and ceo. “this year’s recipients share exemplary talent, brains and caring for others. we invest in them with these scholarships to power the future generation.”

supporting educational opportunities and recognizing volunteerism through the community power scholarships program helps enhance entergy’s commitment to improving communities by helping prepare young people to be effective contributors to their communities, both through employment and volunteer activities. the program is aligned with entergy’s ongoing initiative to develop a future workforce, a crucial element to expanding 2022年世界杯比分 and meeting the future needs of customers.

the scholarship winners are:

  • collin brumfield, who graduated from warren central high school in vicksburg, is the son of keith and kristy brumfield. keith brumfield is a troubleman for entergy mississippi. the younger brumfield plans to attend the university of mississippi.
  • olivia becker, who graduated from st. andrew’s episcopal high school in ridgeland, is the daughter of ann becker and ed becker. ann becker is a communications manager at entergy. olivia becker plans to attend the sally mcdonnell barksdale honors college at the university of mississippi and major in biology.
  • john “jay” newman, who graduated from st. joseph catholic high school in madison, is the son of john and charlene newman. john newman is a business continuity lead for entergy. jay newman plans to attend the united states military academy and major in political science.
  •  avery parman, who graduated from st. aloysius high school in vicksburg, is the daughter of billy and pam parman. bill parman is an engineering manager for major fleet projects at entergy. avery parman plans to attend the university of mississippi and major in pharmacy.
  • john smith iii, who graduated from wesson attendance center in wesson, is the son of john smith jr. and amanda smith. john smith jr. is an instrument technician at grand gulf nuclear station. the younger smith plans to attend copiah-lincoln community college majoring in electrical engineering.
  • delisia wicks, who graduated from mississippi school of mathematics and science in columbus, is the daughter of dariel and alicia wicks. dariel wicks works as a radiation protection technician for entergy nuclear. delisia wicks plans to attend vanderbilt university and major in biomedical engineering.
