entergy mississippi is officially unveiling the next location of its direct current electric vehicle fast chargers. it is the second company-owned electric vehicle charging station of its kind in 沙特vs墨西哥让球’s four-state service area.

located in downtown brandon near i-20, the company’s $350,000 fast charging station will serve both residents and ev drivers passing through on i-20 and nearby i-55. this location, along with the company’s first set of fast chargers located in the renaissance at colony park in ridgeland, will allow entergy mississippi to expand research on the impact of evs to the power grid. insights on frequency, time of day and location can help the company prepare for improvements that may be needed as power use from electric vehicle drivers increases in the future.

“we have to be prepared with the right infrastructure to serve our customers when the time comes,” said haley fisackerly, president and ceo, entergy mississippi. “electric vehicle usage in mississippi is at a stage right now that allows us to collect data and begin developing a plan for the future.”

the facility is equipped with two direct current fast chargers that provide up to 180 kilowatts of power and are compatible with many electric vehicle models. customers using the charging station pay $.30/kwh and, on average, an ev can be fully charged for $20-$30 within 30-45 minutes.

more accessible and affordable than ever, electric vehicle ownership is gaining ground. an estimated 26 million evs are expected to be on america’s roads by 2030.

“the lessons we learn through this pilot will help us better advise municipalities and developers throughout our service area as they plan for future electric vehicle charging stations in their area,” said fisackerly.

city of brandon mayor butch lee said, “we’re thrilled that entergy chose our downtown to be a part of this program. with our proximity to i-20, we hope travelers will find benefits in having a conveniently placed charging station and use the opportunity to enjoy our local businesses as well. we’ll also learn how we can prepare to meet the demands of electric vehicles in our community.”

entergy mississippi has supported other electric vehicle initiatives in addition to the direct current fast charging station project. earlier this year, through <a customers to increase their energy usage. the typical residential customer using 1,000 kwh per month will see a bill decrease of $2.07 beginning in july.

despite the increased costs required to generate power, maintain infrastructure and provide electrical service, entergy mississippi's plan offsets those costs and ensures rates remain as flat as possible, while customers’ energy use is at its highest.

“we work hard to safely provide quality and reliable electricity to all our customers,” said haley fisackerly, entergy mississippi president and ceo. “as our customers face rising costs on groceries and other bills, we’re doing what we can to help keep their energy bills stable. we hope this savings will help customers feel some relief from the heat and in their wallets at a time when they need it most.”

entergy mississippi’s residential rates continue to be among the lowest in the nation, and rates have grown more slowly than the cost of other goods since 2005. in nearly two decades, entergy mississippi’s residential rates have increased by 44%; while according to the u.s. bureau of labor statistics, the cost of bread and eggs have risen by 88% and 130%, respectively.

customers can visit entergy-mississippi.com/energy_efficiency to find a variety of programs and miss. – entergy’s women in nuclear chapter has been recognized again by the u.s. win organization as the “most reactive” chapter. it is the second time in as many years the chapter has gained national recognition for their educational outreach efforts, this time for their work during 2023’s national nuclear science week.

chapters are judged on the number of activities held during nsw, the number of participating u.s. win members, the number of individuals and public sectors reached and the variety of topics covered.

“it was the dedication, hard work and leadership our team demonstrated last year that allowed us to be awarded, for the second year in a row, the most reactive chapter for 2023’s nuclear science week,” said danielle andreozzi, entergy nuclear design engineer and fleet president of entergy’s u.s. win chapter. “i am so proud to be a part of this organization and company. i have personally seen the effects advocating for nuclear and stem careers has on students and the local community.”

entergy has a win chapter at each of its four nuclear power plants in mississippi, arkansas and louisiana, as well as at its headquarters in jackson. chapters from all five sites participated, with some putting on multiple events. among the outreach efforts were:

nuclear and stem-related activities and giveaways for visitors at the mississippi submissions from 10 chapters who all did an amazing job with their outreach efforts. the creativity and diversity in events were fantastic. approximately 3,000 individuals of all ages were able to explore nuclear science topics—and that doesn’t even cover those who were reached via social media! we love seeing how our chapters promote and support nuclear energy as a carbon-free energy source in our communities.”

u.s. women in nuclear is an organization of individuals who work in nuclear energy and technology fields around the united states. their vision is aimed at positioning the united states for the future of nuclear energy and technology through the advancement of women.

nuclear science week, held the third week in october, is an international, broadly observed, growing reliability and resilience needs, while balancing affordability for its customers, said chair and chief executive officer drew marsh, during the company’s 75th annual meeting of shareholders today.

“as we look ahead, we see unprecedented growth potential for our company and our region stemming from a number of factors, including strong industrial sales,” said marsh. “this growth has been driven by industrial manufacturing investments along the gulf coast area, which has advantages unmatched anywhere else that are driving investment to our region.”

regarding entergy’s customers’ desire to achieve their own carbon reduction goals, marsh added that the company is “focused on capturing that tremendous growth opportunity for the benefit of all our customers. we’re meeting our customers’ growing reliability and resilience needs, all while balancing bill affordability for our customers. together, we’re writing a growth story for the entergy of tomorrow.”

to meet our customers’ expectations, entergy has built its capital plan across generation, transmission and distribution investments.

entergy is focused on initiatives to improve outcomes for all stakeholders, including the completion of major rate filings and decisions, operational investments, and continued progress on several key customer solutions like green tariffs, renewable energy and other carbon-free energy projects.

marsh cited several achievements for the business in 2023:

“entergy's generation fleet had an outstanding year while maintaining a focus on safety. even with challenges from record-breaking heat last summer, we achieved our best forced outage rate since 2011. not only did we meet our customers' demands, we also exported power to other utilities during the moments that mattered.”

“2023 was a strong year for customer growth. we signed 61 new electric service agreements, representing more than 1.3 gigawatts of generation capacity. and, driven by customer interest, we continued to invest in renewable energy and other clean technology solutions. we now have more than 900 megawatts in service and approximately 2,100 megawatts of renewable energy projects are approved planned investment by amazon web services, or aws, which received supportive legislation finalized by mississippi lawmakers earlier this year, will bring new jobs and 2022年世界杯比分 opportunities to the state.”

“our customers are very interested in resilience investment, and our stakeholder engagement focus on resilience in 2023 has led to important milestones in early 2024. those include approval by the new orleans city council to invest in important hardening, battery and microgrid <a mississippi has completed construction of a new distribution substation in the snowden grove park community, near tchulahoma road in southaven. the substation is a part of a $37 million project, which included constructing nearly two miles of new transmission lines, 12 miles of new and rebuilt distribution lines, and 74 new composite poles.

the project enhances reliability for the existing transmission and distribution systems by providing capacity for future residential, commercial and industrial growth in desoto county.

“northwest mississippi is one of the fastest growing areas in the state, and we’re proud to be a part of the progress,” said haley fisackerly, entergy mississippi president and ceo. “this new substation allows us to support and enable economic growth in the area and continue to provide reliable service at affordable rates.”

construction began april 2022, and the substation was officially put into service december 22, 2023. with a new amphitheater and several restaurants, forecasts show the growth trends in the area could have created overload conditions between nearby greenbrook and plum point substations. bringing the snowden park substation into service alleviates those risks and improves reliability for all three substations.

<img class="" src="//cdn.entergynewsroom.com/userfiles/article photos/entergy 25 jan 2024 14:49:00 -0600here’s how to stay warm while managing your energy usage this winter
manage your electricity usage by implementing these energy efficiency practices

jackson, miss. – freezing temperatures are expected to impact mississippi next week, kicking heaters and energy consumption into high gear. fortunately, entergy mississippi customers can stay warm while managing energy usage and costs by making their homes more energy efficient.

heating costs can account for more than 50% of a customer’s monthly energy usage. instead of cranking up the thermostat when the temperatures drop, entergy mississippi is offering free or low-cost steps to remain comfortable and save energy and money on utility bills:

seal air leaks: use caulk or weatherstripping around doors, windows and any location where there may be a path between the inside and outside.

adjust the thermostat: set the thermostat to 68 degrees during winter months, and dress in layers to stay warm. each degree above 68 can increase your energy bill by about 3 percent.

conserve hot water: set your hot water heater’s thermostat to 120 degrees, or the medium setting. wrap electric water heaters with water heater blankets, which can be found at home improvement stores.

keep doors and windows closed: constant traffic will let out warm air, forcing your heater to work harder to keep the room at a set temperature.

ensure fans are turning the right way: fans should be run at a low speed clockwise during the winter to prevent the cold air from blowing down on you.

replace air filters: dirty filters make your heating system work harder. replace them according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

use sunlight to your advantage: during the day, open your curtains and blinds to let in the warm sunlight. close them at night to reduce heat loss.

entergy mississippi also offers free comprehensive residential energy audits and rebates to help reduce the upfront cost of installing energy-efficient equipment. visit entergy.com/energyefficiency for more information.
15 nov 2023 15:24:00 -0600entergy mississippi offers tips for keeping fall safe, fun
jackson, miss. – the seasonal transition to fall is a time that many anticipate all year long—bringing sweater weather, scents of pumpkin spice, bright lights of the state fair and trick-or-treating, just to name a few. this time of year can also bring opportunities for customers to tackle home improvement or landscaping projects. as fun and gratifying as these activities can be, no one wants them to result in an accident or injury. entergy mississippi has some helpful tips for staying safe throughout the season.

keep safety first with home projects

fall is a great time to tidy up and prep your property for winter. when cleaning up fallen leaves and branches or trimming trees, always use caution and be aware of overhead lines. position your ladder away from overhead wires, so trimmings will not fall onto power lines. if this happens, always assume downed wires are energized and call 1-800-entergy for help.

if your fall spruce-up includes digging up flower beds, trees or shrubs, remember to call before you dig. calling 811 before you dig will keep you safe and prevent disruption of utility services to your neighborhood.

when performing maintenance activities that require a ladder inside or out, be sure to wear proper footwear, position the ladder on a flat surface, and have someone nearby to spot you.

keep the season safe, not scary

children look forward to the halloween season and all the fun it brings: wearing costumes, enjoying candy and attending fall festivals and carnivals. the american academy of pediatrics offers tips to help children celebrate safely.

prepare to welcome trick-or-treaters to your home safely by checking outdoor lights and making sure walkways and steps are well-lighted and free of any tripping hazards. for outside use, only three-wire grounded extension cords should be used. use rubber gaskets in light sockets or hang sockets downward to keep water out and remember to turn outside lights and decorations off when you are away from home or asleep. help children learn about safety with videos, activities and other resources.

daylight saving time ends november 5

when daylight saving time ends on sunday, nov. 5, fewer hours of daylight will make it harder to see children going to and from the school bus in the mornings and evenings. when driving, avoid distractions and watch for children in the neighborhood. the national association for pupil transportation offers additional tips for ensuring children arrive to and from school safely.

when setting your clocks to fall back an hour, take the time to check the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. all homes should contain a carbon monoxide detector to help identify the colorless and odorless gas that can cause serious illness or death.

stay cozy with these indoor tips

candles add a warm ambience to an autumn evening, but remember it is never safe to leave candles burning unattended. a small sputter or an errant flame can cause a fire in an instant.

space heaters should only be used with caution. they are large consumers of energy and a fire hazard and should be kept at least three feet away from draperies, rugs and furniture. additionally, homeowners who use a gas or electric furnace should schedule an appointment for service by a certified technician to make sure it is safe for operation and for greatest efficiency.

a wood-burning stove or fireplace can add warmth and coziness to a room but should also be used with caution and proper preparation. have your chimney cleaned by a professional before the first fire is lit. fallen leaves, animal nests and other debris can cause the smoke to vent into your home rather than outside and cause a fire.

remember to replace dirty air filters inside and remove debris from the unit outside to ensure your hvac unit works efficiently through all seasons.

hurricane season lasts through november 30, so it is important to not let your guard down when the weather begins to cool. prepare now for severe weather that may come your way by making a plan and a kit.

about entergy mississippi

entergy mississippi, llc 13 oct 2023 09:55:00 -0500entergy mississippi replaces more than 1,000 wooden transmission poles
annual $28 million investment improves grid reliability

jackson, miss. – entergy mississippi launched a project last year to accelerate the replacement of existing wooden transmission structures with steel or concrete poles, with the goal of replacing all wooden poles in 12-15 years. the replacement of the wood structures represents the majority of a $28 million annual investment entergy mississippi is making to harden the grid. so far, more than 1,000 aged wood structures have been replaced.

“our customers and communities depend on us to deliver reliable service,” said shawn corkran, vice president of reliability, entergy mississippi. “we study and invest in modernizing and strengthening our grid to ensure our customers have the power they need when they need it. this involves not just replacing aging infrastructure, but also updating our equipment with materials that improve our resiliency.”

the transmission system is the backbone of the electric grid. the company produces power in the most efficient and reliable manner possible, then sends the electricity that has been generated across transmission lines to reach the distribution lines that bring power to customers’ homes and businesses. the structures carry high-voltage electricity quickly over long distances to reach the distribution lines that, in turn, serve 461,000 customers in entergy mississippi’s service area.

these high-voltage lines and the structures holding them are a crucial part of the grid, so maintaining them is an essential part of entergy mississippi’s work. wooden poles were once the standard material for transmission structures. however, today steel and concrete poles are preferred for reliability.

“we identified wooden transmission structures in need of replacement across the state,” said corkran. “with these upgraded structures, we can provide a more hardened, reliable system for our customers and reduce the length of outages caused by transmission wood pole failures.”

additional crews were brought on the system for the execution of the incremental work to replace the structures holding the lines, which will fortify the grid; these additional crews will also be available to help restore damaged transmission lines, improving the restoration times during unplanned outages or outages that may occur during storms. an investment in infrastructure now pays dividends in fewer outages and lower bills for customers today and in the decades to come.

about entergy mississippi

entergy mississippi, llc provides electricity to approximately 461,000 customers in 45 counties. entergy 24 aug 2023 09:42:00 -0500entergy mississippi is ready for peak of hurricane season
jackson, miss. – entergy mississippi is prepared for potential hurricanes this season, and you should be ready, too. with the height of the hurricane season approaching, the national hurricane center last week increased their estimated number of major storms expected for the remainder of the season, citing record-high temperatures in the atlantic and gulf of mexico as reasons for greater threats of severe weather.

“storms are impacting our region more frequently and with increased intensity, making it a greater priority to prepare ahead of time,” said shawn corkran, vice president for reliability entergy mississippi. “we’re committed to restoring power safely and as quickly as possible following severe weather and urge customers to prepare and have a plan in place.”

entergy mississippi performs storm preparations year-round – from inspections and vegetation management to training and industry collaboration. since trees and other vegetation are a leading cause of power outages, we conduct “sky to ground" vegetation trimming on targeted sections of line, which removes tree limbs that would normally have been above or near the power lines. and, we use computer modeling to help predict when trimming may be needed.

the next few weeks are critical, with past late-august storms such as hurricanes andrew, katrina, laura and ida reminding us of the need to be ready. in the last two years, hurricanes, tornadoes, and major thunderstorms have caused significant damage to our distribution system.

staying storm ready is a full-time job, 24/7, 365 days a year. when there’s a hurricane threat, entergy uses forecasts and computer models based on experience with past storms to predict damage to our power delivery infrastructure such as poles, transformers and wire spans. based on those estimates, the company will call on restoration workers from around the country as needed to safely get the power back on as quickly as possible. assessing damage, deploying personnel to the right place with the right materials and restoring power are all processes entergy mississippi continually plans for and improves.

stay prepared

“safety is at the 14 aug 2023 09:27:00 -0500know what’s below – every dig requires a call
jackson, miss. – on august 11 and throughout the year, we remind homeowners and professional contractors to use the free 811 service before digging to reduce the risk of striking an underground utility or gas line.

august 11 serves as a reminder to all people who excavate or dig to call 811 at least two full business days before digging to have the approximate location of their utility lines marked. this process helps prevent injuries, property damage and inconvenient utility outages.

the focus of august 11 is preventing serious consequences that could occur from digging without knowing what’s below the surface – not only now, but year-round. regardless of what you plan to do, how deep you plan to dig or even if you’ve called before for a similar project, every job requires a call first.

the depth of underground utility lines varies and there may be multiple utility lines in one common area. the risk of striking underground utility lines exists even when digging only a few inches.

mississippi has its own 811 call center that can help you stay safe while digging. call center representatives can advise you on how to submit requests to learn what utilities may be buried beneath the ground, such as natural gas pipelines, electric power lines and other services.

after you make the call to 811, professional locators mark the approximate locations of underground lines at the requested digging site with flags, paint or both. markings show the location of underground lines and help prevent undesired consequences such as injury, service disruptions or costly fines and repair costs.

if you suspect utility damage of any kind, leave the area immediately and call 1-800-entergy (1-800-368-3749) or call 911. a gas leak could be occurring if you smell the distinctive natural gas odor, hear a hissing or whistling sound near a gas appliance or see dead vegetation or bubbles near a gas line.

for more information, visit ms811.org.

about entergy mississippi

entergy mississippi, miss. – grand gulf nuclear station engineers won big at a recent team-building charity golf tournament, but it was wounded warriors of mississippi that took home the prize.

the tournament, held at clear creek golf course in vicksburg, was a great exercise in collaboration, but also an opportunity to donate to an organization of the winning team’s choice.

“wounded warriors was an easy pick for us,” said trace moore, grand gulf engineer. “my granddad served in vietnam, and i would hear stories of how hard it was on veterans when they came back to the united states.”

along with moore, the winning team included grand gulf engineers gabe bufkin, jeremy smith and zachary thorne.

cheryl bruce, director of wounded warriors of mississippi, began the 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization based out of brandon nine years ago. when her son returned home after receiving injuries during his tour in iraq, he was looking for the same camaraderie he experienced overseas. through bruce’s efforts, not only did her son make connections, but she has also been able to help connect many other mississippi veterans.

“we were thrilled when we found out about the donation,” bruce said. “we don’t write grants or have any major sponsors, so we operate solely on donations. it was very humbling that they chose us with no direct connections to our organization. we are so honored.”

bruce began the program when she realized the national wounded warriors project did not have the funds to help the veterans she met locally through her son.

“if veterans have home repairs or bills or groceries they can’t afford, we help them,” bruce said. “we help with physical problems, too. since the wait for an appointment at the va can be more than eight or nine months, we pay for bills out of pocket when a veteran is in pain or uncomfortable. we also provide counseling, whether it’s marriage counseling or for ptsd.”

there were two flights of the golf tournament, meaning the second winning team chose a separate organization to donate to. because their choice, the salvation army angel tree program, mainly operates around the holiday season, their check presentation will be at a later date.

“it was great to be able to combine a fun, team-building activity with a chance to donate to causes the individual teams chose,” said brad kapellas, grand gulf nuclear station site vice president. “i’m so proud of the employees at grand gulf and their continuous generosity.”

to stay updated about wounded warriors of mississippi, making progress restoring power to more than 138,000 customers who were left without after multiple major storms continue to move through the state. storms have struck our service area nearly every day since saturday, june 10 and more are forecast this week. restoration efforts have been ongoing and our crews continue to restore power as it is safe to do so, even as a weather system is moving through our service area today.

the outages are a result of a wave of consecutive strong and fast-moving storms that have pelted entergy mississippi’s power grid for more than a week. these storms have caused outages for customers in the western half of the state from the tennessee to louisiana lines. more than 2,000 workers are involved in the restoration efforts. as power is restored in one area, crews will be redirected to areas still without power.

“these thunderstorms are relentless, however our storm teams and those here to assist with our restoration are also relentless,” said haley fisackerly, president and ceo, entergy mississippi. “we are now systematically and safely stepping through our switching, vegetation clearing and construction efforts to continues to move through our area, we are aware of customers that have now been impacted two or three times due to different causes. we are continuing to receive storm assessments from our scouting teams and prioritizing the restoration efforts.”

additionally, we have committed $20,000 to the american red cross to support cooling centers in our service area.

entergy mississippi their electric rates beginning in the july billing cycle. the typical residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt hours per month will pay $136.80 beginning in july, down $7.08 from june.

bills are a combination of rates and usage, and high temperatures of summer tend to drive more energy use. fortunately, the mississippi public service commission has approved entergy mississippi’s new rate plan reductions as summer reaches its peak.

“we work hard to safely provide reliable and affordable electricity to all our customers,” said haley fisackerly, entergy mississippi president and ceo. “low rates are important to our customers as they budget for the home, as small businesses owners create new jobs, and as industries look to expand in our state.

the rate decrease and a decline in natural gas prices are not the only factors contributing to more savings for customers. entergy mississippi has implemented several other money-saving strategies to benefit customers, too, including:

spreading costs over time to help customers budget for higher bills caused by increased natural gas prices.

streamlining operational costs to become even more efficient.

saving customers’ money with free home energy efficiency kits and services.

shifting dependence on natural gas by offering new and varied power sources.

“we’re thankful to the mississippi public service commission for approving this decrease in rates, which allows our customers to save money. it comes at a crucial time, when the mississippi heat tends to cause high energy usage,” said fisackerly. “we hope this savings will help customers feel some relief from the heat and in their wallets at a time when they need it most."

entergy mississippi’s residential rates continue to be among the lowest in the nation and have grown more slowly than the cost of other goods since 2005. in nearly two decades, residential rates have ceiling fans are rotating in the right direction – counter-clockwise during summer – to push cooler air down into the room. be sure to turn all fans off in unused rooms.

close blinds, shades and curtains to keep the sun out and the cool air in. also, close air conditioning vents in rooms that are not in use.

seal cracks and holes around doors, windows and
