time in 50 years, entergy mississippi is building a new natural gas power station, which will ensure customers continue to have modern, reliable energy well into the future. the advanced facility will be the first combined-cycle combustion turbine power station the company has built from the ground up. “as our customers’ needs and environmental factors evolve, so must our fleet. we’re investing in cleaner, more efficient power generation now, to help us keep bills lower for customers than they otherwise would be in the future,” said haley fisackerly, president and ceo of entergy mississippi. the combined-cycle combustion turbine facility is a dual-fuel technology. while natural gas is the primary resource, the advanced facility will be designed to support blended hydrogen to produce discounts and resolve litigation</h4> baton rouge, la. – the louisiana public service commission approved two settlements wednesday that will benefit entergy louisiana customers, support the company’s operations and investments in the state’s power grid over the next three years and end long-running litigation at the federal energy regulatory commission regarding grand gulf nuclear station. these approvals are a pivotal step in ensuring that entergy louisiana continues to provide clean, reliable and affordable electric service to more than a million customers across the state. key components of the <a href="https://www.entergy-louisiana.com/regulatoryblueprint/">rate settlement</a> include a reduction of late fees, elimination of connection and reconnection fees and the expansion of eligibility for low-income senior bill discounts. the commission’s modification and extension of entergy louisiana’s formula rate plan includes key provisions designed to protect customers while positioning the utility to support the state’s growing economy. the approved rate framework also caps profit margins and commits the company to strict reliability targets. the formula rate plan, which sets a utility’s base rates using actual costs and revenue with annual adjustments, better positions entergy louisiana to make necessary improvements to the grid. these improvements are critical not only for everyday life in our homes, schools, hospitals and businesses, but also for attracting new investments that bring well-paying jobs and drive local spending. this settlement sends a clear message that louisiana is open for business and is ready to support industrial and commercial operations with a stable and reliable power grid. resolution of litigation in addition to the formula rate plan, the commission’s decision also authorizes settlement of long-running litigation at the ferc involving entergy louisiana, system energy resources, inc. and the commission. this resolution, which is subject to approval by ferc, would result in millions of dollars in refunds to customers. the timing of the refund from seri to entergy louisiana is dependent upon action at the ferc. seri is an entergy subsidiary that is the majority owner of the grand gulf nuclear station in port gibson, miss. key customer benefits the approved regulatory blueprint includes several modifications designed to benefit customers directly: <ul> <li>reduction of late fees: the amount of late fees charged to customers who fall behind on their bills will be reduced.</li> <li>elimination of connection and reconnection fees: fees associated with connecting and reconnecting services will be eliminated.</li> <li>expansion of low-income senior discounts: eligibility for monthly discounts will be expanded to include more low-income older adults.</li> </ul> while these changes come with a modest increase in customer bills, the company believes the benefits of a reliable and stronger power grid far arkansas customers will be getting a break on their august bills. a residential customer will receive a one-time bill credit of approximately $78 – a decrease of about 63% for a residential customer using 1,000 kwh. commercial and industrial customers will also receive a one-time bill credit in august. small general service customers will receive a credit of approximately $221, and large general service customers will receive a credit of approximately $12,158. the bill credit is applied in august and coincides with july energy consumption, which is usually one of the highest months from an energy usage and bill amount standpoint. it also comes months after residential customers saw their <a href="//www.dcsportsinc.com/news/entergy-arkansas-customer-bills-decrease-beginning-in-april/">bills decrease</a> an average of 7.5% in april, or about $10 a month, because of lower prices for the fuel used to generate electricity for our customers. commercial and industrial customers saw anywhere from a 1.6% to 17.7% decrease, depending on their usage. “we work hard each day to provide reliable and affordable energy by keeping our costs as low as possible for our customers,” said ventrell thompson, vice president of customer service for entergy arkansas. “we know that higher costs grants for the second year in a row to improve the resiliency of the power grid in port arthur, texas. in april of this year, the company updated its application for the u.s. department of energy's <a href="https://www.energy.gov/gdo/grid-resilience-and-innovation-partnerships-grip-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">grid resilience and innovation partnerships</a> program and aims to secure funding for a $107.5 million infrastructure and electrical grid hardening project. if approved, the funds would help protect the power grid from extreme weather events, which have historically affected port arthur. “the city of port arthur has endured numerous extreme weather events, including two of the most historic weather events in our country―hurricane harvey and winter storm uri,” said thurman bartie, mayor of port arthur. “since 2020, at least four major hurricanes have impacted our communities and caused widespread power outages. we’re thankful entergy texas continues to seek out cost-effective solutions to help strengthen the power grid and improve resiliency in our communities.” the proposed project includes plans to strengthen 57 transmission structures, harden or underground at least 950 distribution structures, and pilot a self-healing microgrid solution to bridge short-term outages by interconnecting a utility-scale battery to an existing substation. these improvements are expected to benefit port arthur customers by reducing the duration of power outages following significant weather events by 257 million minutes and decrease future storm restoration costs by an estimated $74 million over the next 50 years. doe is set to announce grip award winners this fall. winning submissions will receive funding for half of the project's cost, helping to mississippi is officially unveiling the next location of its direct current electric vehicle fast chargers. it is the second company-owned electric vehicle charging station of its kind in 沙特vs墨西哥让球’s four-state service area. located in downtown brandon near i-20, the company’s $350,000 fast charging station will serve both residents and ev drivers passing through on i-20 and nearby i-55. this location, along with the company’s first set of fast chargers located in the renaissance at colony park in ridgeland, will allow entergy mississippi to expand research on the impact of evs to the power grid. insights on frequency, time of day and location can help the company prepare for improvements that may be needed as power use from electric vehicle drivers increases in the future. “we have to be prepared with the right infrastructure to serve our customers when the time comes,” said haley fisackerly, president and ceo, entergy mississippi. “electric vehicle usage in mississippi is at a stage right now that allows us to collect data and begin developing a plan for the future.” the facility is equipped with two direct current fast chargers that provide up to 180 kilowatts of power and are compatible with many electric vehicle models. customers using the charging station pay $.30/kwh and, on average, an ev can be fully charged for $20-$30 within 30-45 minutes. more improving recovery times for extreme weather events while keeping rates affordable</h4> the woodlands, texas – extreme weather has become more frequent and severe in texas. according to the national centers for environmental information, there have been <a href="https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/billions/state-summary/tx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">179 extreme weather events in texas</a> from 1980 to june 2024, including hurricanes and winter storms. these extreme events, coupled with an increased dependence on electricity to power homes, businesses, and essential services, underscore the need for an even more resilient electrical grid. to better protect the southeast texas power grid from extreme weather and improve service reliability, entergy texas recently <a href="https://interchange.puc.texas.gov/search/filings/?utilitytype=a&amp;controlnumber=56735&amp;itemmatch=equal&amp;documenttype=all&amp;sortorder=ascending" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filed an application</a> with the public utility commission of texas for approval of phase i of its comprehensive texas future ready resiliency plan. once approved, the investments included in phase i are expected to benefit customers by decreasing future storm restoration costs by approximately $129 million and reducing the duration of power outages following significant weather events by 4.5 billion minutes over the next fifty years. “the increasing frequency and cost of storm restoration, the increasing impact from prolonged outages and recently passed state legislation demonstrate that now is the optimal time to pursue key grid hardening investments,” said eliecer viamontes, president and ceo of entergy texas. “while entergy texas has historically invested in the reliability and resiliency of its generation, transmission, and distribution systems, significant and emerging circumstances support the need to accelerate the pace of these investments. our comprehensive resiliency plan creates stronger communities while managing customer bill impacts.” phase i of the company’s resiliency plan is a multiyear proposal that includes six key measures to prevent, withstand, and recover from damage imposed by significant storm events. <ul> <li>distribution feeder hardening: rebuilding main feeder lines to a storm-resilient overhead design standard.</li> <li>lateral hardening: rebuilding neighborhood distribution lines to a storm-resilient overhead design.</li> <li>transmission rebuild: replacing poles with higher wind-rated structures and equipment on high-voltage lines.</li> <li>lateral undergrounding: undergrounding select overhead neighborhood lines.</li> <li>substation control house remediation: hardening substations by upgrading roofs to meet wind standards.</li> <li>targeted vegetation management: proactive inspections and trimming to mitigate vegetation-related outages and wildfire risks.</li> </ul> the accelerated hardening projects included in phase i total a $335 million investment in the southeast texas power grid. to minimize the impact on monthly customer bills, entergy texas plans to seek $198 million in non-ercot grants from the
