texas storm restoration update - sunday morning

severe weather blew through the entergy texas service territory may 10th, causing extensive and widespread damage. the storm included high winds and rain and caused a significant number of outages for customers. overnight, entergy texas restored more than 9,000 customers. as of 12:00 pm, approximately 10,000 entergy texas customers are without power. entergy workers are currently in the process of restoring power. additional resources from louisiana and arkansas arrived friday to assist with restoration efforts yesterday and today.

we have experienced significant distribution damage in some areas, including beaumont and port arthur. resources are being sent to these areas to assist with a safe restoration as quickly as possible.

safety is an entergy key value and always comes first. then, restoring power is a core value and first order of business. we are restoring service where it is safe to do so. first, we restore power to critical community infrastructure and essential services such as hospitals, water treatment plants, police and fire stations, and communication systems. then, we will concentrate our resources on what gets the greatest number of customers restored the fastest.

port arthur

overnight, entergy restored power to around 3,375 customers in port arthur. at 8:00 am, there are about 5,752 customers without power in port arthur. entergy crews are 95 percent complete with their assessments of the damage. yesterday, 7 broken poles were replaced, but overnight, 7 additional poles were found needing to be replaced today. currently, there are 15 poles to be replaced today and tomorrow and 2,500 feet of wire down. additional crews arrived friday night from across texas, louisiana, and arkansas to assist with restoration efforts in this area, and there are now 520 workers restoring power in your area currently.

the first major area of focus by crews this morning is memorial blvd in port arthur. entergy crews have been working on the damage to this area since yesterday morning and have found multiple complications in restoring power. crews are working diligently in multiple areas across the city to restore customers. additional focus areas are woodrow, 29thstreet, and 36th street. flooding and high water are preventing crews from accessing some areas. while we expect that most customers will be restored sooner, some customers should expect outages to last through tuesday, may 14 at 6:00 pm. we apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to restore your power. 

entergy texas will open a customer information center in port arthur at central mall in the parking lot near sears. the physical address is 3100 hwy 365. the center will be open today from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. entergy representatives will be available to assist customers with outage concerns while customers wait for power to be restored.

mid county

overnight, entergy texas restored power to 973 customers in the mid county area. as of 8:00 am, there are 3,774 customers with outages. the storm caused significant damage including 15 poles down and 6,000 feet of wire down at this time. additional crews arrived friday evening from across texas, louisiana, and arkansas to assist with restoration efforts in this area.

there are 40 workers focused in mid county with a total of 520 in both the port arthur and mid county areas. in groves, crews are at the 1300 block of boyd, on twin city hwy in front of encounter church, near the 6800 block of jefferson, 3100 block of maple, and the 2800 block of 33rd st. in nederland, servicemen are working individual cases of outage including in the 1400 block of ave d and n 17th st. crews are in port neches working on the 200 block of 4thst, the 200 block of 14th st, and the 2600 block of 12th as well as individual cases of outage. while we expect that most customers will be restored sooner, some customers should expect outages to last through tuesday, may 14 at 6:00 pm. we apologize for the inconvenience and are working as quickly as safely possible.

winnie

entergy texas restored power to 600 customers in winnie and surrounding areas overnight. as of 8:00 am sunday, there are 217 customers still waiting to be reconnected. the assessment in the winnie area is 95 percent complete. there are 21 poles scheduled to be replaced today and 150 workers in the field working to restore power. the areas of focus today are fm 563 and 562 in anahuac as well as oak island bayshore ln., bayshore dr., smith point rd., and jenkins at i-10. while we expect that most customers will be restored sooner, some customers should expect outages to last through monday, may 13 at 10:00 pm. we apologize for the inconvenience and are working as quickly as safely possible. 

orange, vidor

overnight, entergy texas has restored power to 266 customers in the orange and vidor areas. at this time, all customers who are able to take power have been restored. if you are experiencing an outage and need assistance, please contact 1-800-entergy (1-800-368-3749). thank you for your patience as we restored power in your area.

beaumont

overnight, entergy texas restored power to 632 customers in beaumont and surrounding areas. as of 8:00 am, there are 185 customers waiting for power to be restored. the damage assessments are 100 percent complete, and our crews are now completely focused on restoration efforts. yesterday, our crews were able to replace 17 of the 22 broken poles and 5 poles remain to be replaced today. employees and contractors are working this afternoon in nome on fm 1009, in sour lake on thompson rd., in china on linzay st., and in hamshire/fannett on koelemay dr. in beaumont, employees and contractors will be working on nelkin ln and tyler st. while we expect that most customers will be restored sooner, some customers should expect outages to last through sunday, may 12th at 6:00 pm. we apologize for the inconvenience and are working as quickly as safely possible to restore power to our customers.
