texas storm restoration update - saturday evening

severe weather blew through the entergy texas service territory may 10, causing extensive and widespread damage. the storm included high winds and rain and caused a significant number of outages for customers. entergy texas has restored more than 14,500 customers throughout the day since the storm hit thursday night. as of 5:30 pm, 14,300 texas customers are without power. entergy workers continue restoring power for affected customers. additional resources from louisiana and arkansas arrived last night to assist with restoration efforts today.

we have experienced significant distribution damage in several areas, mostly in the beaumont and port arthur.

severe weather passing through today slowed some of our restoration activities. however, entergy crews continue working to restore power, despite the inclement weather, as quickly and as safely as possible.

safety is an entergy key value and always comes first. then, safely restoring power is a core value and first order of business. we are restoring service where it is safe to do so.  our first priority is to restore power to critical community infrastructure and essential services such as hospitals, water treatment plants, police and fire stations, and communication systems. then, we concentrate our resources on greatest number of customers restored the fastest.

orange, vidor

at 5:00 pm, there are 177 customers in orange and vidor without power. we expect the majority of customers to be on by saturday, may 11 at 10:30 pm, there may be some outages that last until tomorrow afternoon. there are 30 employees and contractors in the field in the orange and vidor areas. the damage assessment is 100 percent complete and our focus is now completely on restoring power to our customers. crews have replaced 3 poles and are on site to replace the remaining 4 by the end of the night. crews are on site on cove ln, rosewood dr., stonewood dr., sikes, and patillo rd. entergy is aware of 21 customers affected in the echo area who have been without power for an extended period of time. the cause in this area is due to a damaged pole and transmission line. employees are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power to these customers. today’s inclement weather caused delays in restoration and additional outages that crews are working to restore. we apologize for the inconvenience and are working as quickly as safely possible. 

winnie

since 12:00 pm today, entergy texas has restored power to 628 customers. as of 5:00 pm, there are 817 customers still waiting to receive power. the assessment in the winnie area is 95 percent complete. crews have replaced 9 poles today with another 18 poles to be replaced tonight and tomorrow. there is currently 700 feet of wire down in the area, and crews are working in the areas of eagle ferry rd, bay shore dr., fm 562 and fm 563 south of anahuac, oak island, and smith point areas. today’s inclement weather caused additional outages and delayed restoration on outages that occurred thursday evening. while we expect that most customers will be restored sooner, some customers should expect outages to last through monday, may 13 at 10:00 pm. we apologize for the inconvenience and are working as quickly as safely possible. 

port arthur

as of 5:00 pm, there have been 2,100 customers restored in port arthur area throughout the day, and there are still 9,216 experiencing power outages. entergy crews are continuing their assessments of the damage and are 90 percent complete. crews have replaced 13 of the broken poles in the area and there are 15 poles that have been identified at this time to be replaced. additionally, 4 poles need crossarm replacements and crews will be completing that work today and tomorrow. there is 2,000 feet of wire down in the area. 100 additional resources have joined the effort in port arthur bringing the total numbers of employees and contractors in the field to 420. crews will be working today at 29th and 11th st, 3000 block of 36th st, at procter and valley forge, 95th st, lombardy and ferndale, woodrow, 7th and 8th st, 29th and 11th ave, and will be replacing poles near williams ave, w. port arthur rd. and 60th st., shreveport, gulfway, dallas ave, woodrow, and 36th st. while we expect that most customers will be restored sooner, some customers should expect outages to last through tuesday, may 14 at 6:00pm. we apologize for the inconvenience and are working as quickly as safely possible. 

entergy texas has opened a customer information center in port arthur at central mall in the parking lot near sears. the physical address is 3100 hwy 365. the center will be open today, may 11th from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. tomorrow, hours will be 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. entergy representatives will be available to assist customers with outage concerns while customers wait for power to be restored.

mid county

this afternoon an additional 518 customers were restored in the mid county area. as of 5:00pm, there are 4,747 customers with outages. the storm caused significant damage including 15 poles down and 6,000 feet of wire down at this time. additionally, trees have fallen across equipment and need to be removed before power can be restored. additional crews have arrived from across texas, louisiana, and arkansas to assist with restoration efforts in this area. there are 40 workers in mid county working to restore power this afternoon. the crews are in groves at monroe and twin city hwy and on twin city hwy in front of encounter church. in nederland, entergy has crews at 11th and 12th streets, on lansing st, 29th and ave m, 29th and ave h, there are crews in the 2000 block of tyler and 2000 block of ave k. workers are in port neches working on 2nd st., 4th st and the two hundred block of 14th st. the power has been restored to the victor dr. and hampton ln. area. inclement weather this afternoon caused additional outages and delayed restoration to outages that began thursday evening. while we expect that most customers will be restored sooner, some customers should expect outages to last through tuesday, may 14 at 6:00pm. we apologize for the inconvenience and are working as quickly as safely possible.

beaumont

throughout the day, 900 customers have been restored in beaumont. at 4:00 pm, there were 300 customers waiting to receive power. there are currently 134 employees and contractors in the field. the damage assessment in this area is 95 percent complete and efforts are now shifting to focus heavily on restoration. crews have worked today to remove trees that had fallen on power lines, with 1 tree still requiring removal. many broken poles have been replaced throughout the day with 17 broken poles remaining and 1 broken crossarm. there is 200 feet of wire down on tyler st., 800 feet of wire down on sunshine dr., and 1,400 feet of wire down on hwy 124.  employees and contractors are working this afternoon in nome on fm 1009, in sour lake on ave. j, and off hwy 105, in hamshire/fannett on ridgemont dr., winzer rd., boondocks rd., fm 365 and labelle rd., and koelemay dr., and in china on s. china rd. in beaumont, employees and contractors are working off of helbig rd., lucas ave., 21st st., in the lamar university area and between washington blvd. and college st. while we expect that most customers will be restored sooner, some customers should expect outages to last through sunday, may 12 at 6:00pm. we apologize for the inconvenience and are working as quickly as safely possible.
