entergy mississippi 2015 year-end recap

12/17/2015

as 2015 comes to a close, i want to reflect upon the year. we’ve made tremendous strides toward making entergy mississippi, inc., a better place for our customers, communities, employees and owners.

from winter storm restoration to improving and ensuring service reliability through utility pole inspections and equipment upgrades, we’ve worked hard to keep your lights on.

our “bright future” plan took effect in february, lowering your bills and creating a blueprint for mississippi’s electric needs through 2025. the plan is designed to improve reliability, modernize the grid, maintain an adequate workforce, stabilize rates, use new technologies and attract new industry. thanks to the efforts of the mississippi public service commission and our employees, our move to miso and lower gas prices, we were able to further reduce our rates, once in july and again in september.

working with the mpsc, we got regulatory approval to build new transmission lines that will improve reliability and help us bring new business and industry to our state. we began exploring renewable energy sources with our solar power pilot, with two of three stations, desoto and hinds, now in operation and brookhaven to be in operation by the end of the year. we also worked with the mpsc and staff to develop a net metering rule that is fair for all customers.

many of you have taken advantage of our energy efficiency program, entergy solutions, this year, saving money and making your homes and businesses more energy efficient. this program is still available. for more information, visit entergysolutionsms.com or call 844-523-9980.

community is important to us, and our employees gave back in a big way throughout the year. we contributed almost $370,000 to the power to care fund, which includes some $217,000 from customers, more than $43,000 from employees and a match of more than $109,000 from our shareholders.

the entergy charitable foundation gave almost $200,000 in grants to mississippi organizations, and entergy mississippi volunteers and the mississippi food network packed some 26,000 free energy-efficient light bulbs and distributed them to low-income mississippians. to top off the year, our employees raised $25,000 for the american heart association.

the past year was monumental, and we achieved so many important milestones. i firmly believe that everything we accomplished this year has positioned us for success in the years to come. it’s taken tenacity, dedication and perseverance, and i am proud to be part of the entergy mississippi team.

here’s to a successful 2016.
